The upcoming June racing movie, entitled F1, has dropped a new trailer. It promises to be a movie that is packed with action, special effects, and a bit of humor. The Joseph Kosinski-directed film is set to debut on Friday, June 27th. Although we have had a few racing movies in the past decade, this one promises to be an adventure-filled blockbuster.
Filming F1: The Movie
The taping for this movie was shot on location in both Hungary and England. The famed race tracks in Hungaroring, Budapest, Hungary, and Silverstone in Northamptonshire, UK, provided backdrops for many of the track scenes. The filming took place from summer of 2023 until wrapping in December 2024.
Main Characters Played By Hollywood A-Listers
Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt, is a retired racer, while the younger, less experienced driver, Joshua is portrayed by Damson Idris. Joshua gets mentored by Sonny and the two form a bond while trying to bring team APXGP, the fictitious Grand Prix team, up to par.
F1: The Movie Makes Use of Real Racers
To make this movie even more realistic, Kosinski has made use of real-life race car drivers. Famed British winning racer Lewis Hamilton served as a producer, and he was used as a consultant in preparing for this movie. Others from the racing industry make an appearance to include AMG Petronas F1 Team’s CEO Toto Wolff. By having multiple people within the racing industry involved, F1’s plot is much more accurate and believable.
