The first Evangelion XR game now has a teaser, and a later launch date. Korean VR studio Pixelity Inc. began streaming a teaser for “Evangelion: Δ Cross Reflections” on Tuesday, Sept. 29, and the game is now set to launch in 2027 after a delay from 2026, Anime News Network reported Thursday, Oct. 1.

Pixelity first showed the video at a hands-on preview event in San Francisco the week before.

A new pilot inside the Evangelion XR game

Rather than putting players in Shinji Ikari’s seat, the action-adventure game has you create an original character who dreams of becoming a pilot. According to ANN, you explore the world of “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” take on quests and fight battles that follow the anime’s timeline.

Co-op play lets you team up with characters from the series and with new ones, such as NERV trainees. The game uses both virtual reality and mixed reality, ANN said.

The teaser also introduced new voice cast members, per ANN:

  • Manaka Iwami as Erisa Nozaki
  • Gakuto Kajiwara as Martin Dasen Holloway
  • Tasuku Hatanaka as Tomohito Yagi
  • Hana Hishikawa as Rimi Okada
  • Takayuki Nakatsukasa as Shogo Yamamoto
  • Genta Nakamura as Haruki Utsumi

The first of 3 games

“Cross Reflections” opens a planned trilogy. This first entry covers the first 11 episodes of the 1995 TV anime, while the full series of games tells a new story set within the timeline of all 26 episodes, ANN reported.

Pixelity first announced the project in February 2025, when it was targeting 2026 for the first installment, Road to VR reported at the time. A playable demo appeared at the franchise’s 30th anniversary festival at Yokohama Arena in February 2026, according to UploadVR.

What the Evangelion XR game has not revealed

Pixelity has not announced an exact release date, the headsets the Evangelion XR game will support or a price. The studio posts updates on its official Evangelion XR account on X.

The game joins a busy anniversary run for the franchise. Studio Khara has a new anime series in the works, and a new short premiered at the “Evangelion:30+;” festival in February. Read more about the new “Evangelion” anime series and the 30th anniversary short, or browse our anime and manga news.
