Epic Games Store is an online video game shop that hosts a variety of games for PC, Mac, and mobile. Console gamers, sadly, do not have access to the store. Each week since 2019, Epic has released free games that any user of their store is able to download for the device the game is compatible with, typically PC and occasionally mobile. Of course, Epic also offers pages of free games year-round, including Apex Legends, Asphalt Legends, Fortnite, and Genshin Impact. Not every player likes every available game, but every player should like free stuff. So what is here for the week of June 19– June 26?
Epic Games Store: Next Choice Of Free Games
For this week, Epic Games Store has officially made available one game for its users, which was once again announced last week. There were some rumors that perhaps a second game was being held back, but it appears not to be the case. The game made available by Epic is The Operator, a dystopian crime-solving game. French studio Bureau 81 has never given away The Operator on Epic Store previously. It holds a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, due to the average rating score of 78. It also holds a “very positive” rating label on Steam.
The Operator is now the second game on Epic Games Store that was previously announced, after spending May with a mystery release theme. It is again the only free game dropped. As Game Rant explains, the game “is a crime-solving game that casts players as the titular operator of the mysterious FDI agency. Their job is to provide support to agents in the field in a variety of ways, ranging from identifying persons of interest and checking alibis to analyzing forensic evidence. The Operator was originally released for desktops in July 2024 before making its way to the Nintendo Switch in May 2025.” The game typically costs around $13.99.
