Inspiring and Unforgettable Wins Define the 2026 Film Independent Spirit Awards
The winners from the 2026 Film Independent Spirit Awards are in. The award show took place this past Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, California. The Film Independent Spirit Awards highlight the best independent TV series and movies. When most people think of independent films and TV shows, they picture low budget and unknown actors, but some of the winners include “Adolescence,” “Chief of War,” and “Train Dreams.”
Spirit Awards Shine Bright
Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Ego Nwodim hosted the Film Independent Spirit Awards this year. “Train Dream” was the movie of the night to beat, winning three awards for Best Cinematography, Best Feature, and Clint Bentley won Best Director.
The TV series “Adolescence” was another big winner of the night, standing out in the television categories, and took home the award for Best New Scripted Series.
“Esta Isla (This Island)” won the John Cassavetes Award for the best movie made for under $1,000,000. Tatti Ribeiro, director of Valentina, won the Someone to Watch Awards.
