What we know about the lineup
The channel focuses on jidaigeki, the Japanese term for period drama, along with feature-length action films. REMOW is supplying the programming in partnership with Lightning International, according to the release.
The headline title is “Ninja Wars: Blackfox vs Shogun’s Ninja,” the third film in the Sakamoto’s Ninja Universe series. Chihiro Yamamoto stars as Rikka Isurugi, the Fox Clan leader probing a secretive cult called the White Lotus that may be planning to overthrow the Shogunate. Kanon Miyahara plays Okyo, a Fuma Ninja sent by the Shogun, and Kane Kosugi plays Hattori Hanzo, whose Iga Ninja clan wants revenge on the Tokugawa family. The plot pits all three factions against one another.
Classic samurai series on the channel
The release also lists the “Zatoichi” series, starring Shintaro Katsu as Ichi, a blind wandering masseur and gambler who fights with a sword hidden in his cane. The character was created by novelist Kan Shimozawa, and Katsu played him in 26 films between 1962 and 1989, plus a 100-episode TV series in the 1970s, according to Wikipedia.
Also on the schedule is the “Samurai Detective Onihei” series, centered on Edo-period lawman Heizo Hasegawa. The character comes from Shotaro Ikenami’s long-running “Onihei Hankacho” novels and is based on a real official who led the shogunate’s unit investigating theft, robbery and arson. The release does not say which screen adaptation the channel is airing.
Why the Samurai Vs Ninja channel matters
The new film follows two earlier entries in the franchise. “Blackfox: Age of the Ninja” has drawn 21.7 million views and “Shogun’s Ninja” has drawn 4.5 million views on YouTube, according to the release.
The brand behind the Samurai Vs Ninja channel started on YouTube in August 2022. As of August 2026, it had more than 356,000 subscribers and more than 150 million total views, REMOW said.
Moving to a linear FAST service gives that audience a lean-back way to watch the films on a TV instead of only on YouTube. It is not REMOW’s first push into free streaming, either. The company, which says it has brought Japanese content to more than 200 countries, previously launched the It’s Anime free channel for Vizio WatchFree+ users in North America.
What’s next
Samsung TV Plus carries nearly 5,000 ad-supported linear channels across 30 countries, according to the release, alongside programming such as the KCON LA 2026 livestream, Letterman TV, Luke Nguyen’s World, FIFA+ and MasterChef.
Neither company has announced plans to bring the Samurai Vs Ninja channel to additional countries or other streaming platforms. For more streaming coverage, visit our TV and streaming news section, or read about the Ultraman 60th anniversary film.
