Grammys 2026: A Closer Look at the Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song Nominees

As the 2026 Grammys air this Sunday, the nominees in this category feel less like a competition and more like a reflection of the year many people lived through. These are songs born out of wrestling, healing, joy, doubt, and hope — not polished platitudes, but music that met listeners where they were.

Elevation Worship returns to the Grammy conversation with “I Know a Name,” featuring Chris Brown and Brandon Lake. The group has become one of the most consistent voices in Contemporary Christian Music, and this song shows why.

Rather than relying on grandeur, “I Know a Name” builds slowly, giving space for reflection before rising into confidence. It’s the kind of song that finds its way into quiet moments—late drives, early mornings, or worship settings, where people are carrying more than they let on. Its nomination fits its listeners’ hearts.

Forrest Frank’s Quiet Breakthrough

Forrest Frank’s “Your Way’s Better” is gentle without being timid. This song is about choosing trust over control, and it struck a chord with many listeners. This song became infamous across many social platforms, and many are familiar with the viral dance moves. Well-liked by many younger audiences, yet still able to cross the generation gap, this nomination is certainly justified.

When Struggle Becomes the Story

“Hard Fought Hallelujah,” by Brandon Lake featuring Jelly Roll, stands out not just because of its unexpected collaboration but because of its emotional transparency. The song doesn’t rush to resolution. Instead, it sits in the tension—acknowledging that faith isn’t always neat or triumphant.
That honesty is exactly what made the track resonate far beyond traditional Christian music circles. Its Grammy nomination signals a growing openness within the genre to tell fuller, messier stories—and to invite listeners from all backgrounds into the conversation.

Lecrae Pushes the Boundaries Again

With “Headphones,” Lecrae once again proves why he remains one of the most influential voices in Contemporary Christian Music. Teaming up with Killer Mike and T.I., the song blends spiritual reflection with sharp lyricism and strong production. It’s not a song designed for easy listening. Instead, it challenges the listener to slow down, tune out distractions, and consider what they’re feeding their mind and soul.

Rounding Out the Five Nominees – “Amazing”

Last but not least, this year’s Grammys 2026 Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song final nominee is “Amazing” by Darrel Walls and PJ Morton. This lesser-known, but worshipful song is loaded with warm vocals, a catchy beat, and a powerful message. There’s something timeless about “Amazing,” even as it sounds current. Its nomination feels like a nod to the enduring power of songs that celebrate faith without overcomplication.

My Pick to Win: “Hard Fought Hallelujah”

My pick is more than just a current favorite. It is a song I have come to relate to over a few years of difficult seasons, when I could personally identify with its message: “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”

Contemporary Christian Music lets us take our Sunday morning worship along for the ride during the week. As Grammy night approaches, one song will take home the award—but each nominee has already left its mark. Together, they paint a picture of a genre that’s honest, evolving, and deeply human.
That, perhaps, is what makes this year’s Grammys for Contemporary Christian Music feel especially worth watching.
