“EPIC: The Musical” is Getting Reanimated For The Big Screen!

EPIC The Musical will be turned into an animated film, the collected art covers of all the sagas

My Comrades! Our Captain is finally having his tale told once more, but this time “EPIC: The Musical” is getting its own movie!!! The gods have looked favorably on our king and have bestowed a gift on him that will show his story for all to see. Have the meat of your kills on spikes, roast them up, and find a place to bear witness to the great tale of King Odysseus!

“EPIC: The Musical” – The TikTok-Based Sensation

“EPIC: The Musical” is the passion project of Jorge Rivera-Herrans, a composer who likes to be known as Jay, or, for fans, Captain. The musical is a reimagining of Homer’s “The Odyssey,” an epic tale about a king’s voyage home after the Trojan War. In Jay’s reimagining, Odysseus’s journey begins with the end of the war and follows him along his travels as he struggles against the meaning of mercy while encountering gods and monsters.

Jay has a knack for infusing storytelling with these music pieces, assigning specific instruments and theme songs to each character. Jay not only provides the music but is also the vocalist of Odysseus of Ithaca himself. Scraping together a bunch of talented independent artists, they provided unique vocal works, melodies, and personality to their characters and music. Many of the artists can be found on various music platforms, providing content on their social media accounts, such as TikTok and Instagram.

“EPIC: The Musical” is audio-based, meaning that there isn’t a cohesive visible performance. Jay’s journey in developing his project was recorded and shared on TikTok. The assembled cast also created content around their designed characters and songs. As the following grew, artists, dancers, other vocalists, and musicians presented their own interpretations of the songs.

EPIC The Animated Movie

When the final saga was broadcast, Jay had hand-selected different animation commissions and compiled them into a feature-length film. In a way, this was the “live performance,” or music video, for the entirety of “EPIC: The Musical.” It’s been over a year since its finale, with the Ithaca Saga launching live around Christmas time in 2024. Despite its completion, the sensation of EPIC continues to this day, and now it’s wormed its way into Hollywood’s ear.

Most of EPIC was self-produced by Jay until 2023, when he signed with Kevin Weaver’s Atlantic Music Group. It’s here that Mr. Jerry Bruckheimer, a major producer of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” learned about the musical and offered Jay and Weaver the opportunity to bring EPIC to the animated big screen. This will also be Bunckheimer’s first dance into the animation genre.

From what we know so far, Chad Oman will be joining Bruckheimer in producing the film. As for where the film stands now, CAA, representing Brunkheimer, will be advertising the animation to various streaming services and studios. I don’t think it will be long before the bids come rolling in due to “EPIC: The Musical’s” popularity.

Can’t Wait To Fall In Love With EPIC Again!

Jay’s dedication to his creation and craft sparked a worldwide fanbase that will now be experiencing “EPIC: The Musical” in a whole new light. The animation is still in the early stages of setup, so don’t expect it to be released around the corner anytime soon. We don’t know which animation studio will be drawing and have yet to confirm if Jay will be conducting and/or voicing Odysessus in this film. Aside from all that, I can guarantee that we will be getting so much more from our Captain that will wind-bag blow us away!!!
