Keanu Reeves’ Band Dogstar Returns May 29 with Powerful New Album “All in Now”

Keanu Reeves’ band, Dogstar “All in Now” new album cover

Keanu Reeves has saved the world (and kicked the bad guys’ butts) on screen more times than anyone can count. But the thing that clearly keeps him grounded isn’t action sequences or franchise deals — it’s bass guitar. Dogstar, the alt-rock trio Reeves has called home since the early ’90s, just announced their fourth studio album, “All In Now,” dropping May 29 via their own Dillon Street Records. Based on everything we’re hearing so far, this one is definitely worth a listen.

Why is Dogstar’s New Album “All In Now” Important?

This isn’t some celebrity vanity project. Let’s be clear about that upfront. Dogstar — made up of Keanu Reeves on bass, Bret Domrose on guitar and vocals, and Robert Mailhouse on drums — have been doing this for over three decades. “All In Now” is their second album since reforming in 2023 after a twenty-year (20!) hiatus, and the band thankfully isn’t treating it like a nostalgia trip.

The title says it all, really. Reeves himself came up with it, and Mailhouse in a statement per Billboard, explained it perfectly: “We’re leaning in, and we are going to keep going.” That’s not the energy of a band coasting on goodwill. That’s a band with something to prove.

Why “All In Now” Could Be Dogstar’s Best Work Yet

The production alone should get people talking. Nick Launay – the man behind records from IDLES, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and Amyl and the Sniffers – stepped in to produce. The band originally assumed it was a long shot. Domrose admitted the whole thing felt like a mistake when Launay’s name showed up on a list of potential producers. Mailhouse put it bluntly: “We all thought it was a typo.”

Launay took the gig anyway – and clearly came away impressed. According to Loaded Radio, he described the sessions as a reminder of why bands exist in the first place, noting that the trio “wrote some killer songs and wanted to push some boundaries in the studio.” That kind of endorsement from a producer of his caliber isn’t nothing.

The album’s presale listing also describes “All In Now” as featuring “layered guitar riffs and heavy bass inspired by their time out on the road.” Two years of touring – including packed European festival dates where crowds who had never heard Dogstar before stuck around and got into it – fed directly into how this record sounds. That touring experience matters. It shapes bands in ways that studio time alone never can.

The Title Track Sets the Tone Immediately

The lead single and title track is already out, and Mailhouse described it in the most satisfying way possible: “‘All In Now’ just whacks you in the head.” That’s a live song mentality – built for a room full of people, not a Spotify playlist. Reeves backed that up directly: “This is a good song to lean into… we really are all in now.”

Twelve tracks make up the full record, including “Math,” “Punch The Sky,” “Siren,” and closer “Wing.” It’s a lean, focused lineup that doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Dogstar Is Touring Extensively Behind the New Album

To support the Dogstar new album, the band is launching a 25-date North American tour beginning May 28 at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland, California. The run hits major stops including Austin, Nashville, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City before wrapping September 3 in Salt Lake City.

That’s sandwiched around a full European run, including Download Festival, Rock Werchter, Mad Cool, Nos Alive, and more. This tells you everything about how seriously the band is taking this moment.

Reeves wasn’t subtle about the attitude heading into all of it: “We couldn’t f—-ing wait. For me, the attitude was like, ‘let’s work hard and let’s go.'” Hard to argue with that.
