Ariana Madix is heading from reality TV into scripted sci-fi. The “Love Island USA” host will star in “Future Housewives,” a satirical drama in development at Peacock from Brannon Braga and Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door, according to Deadline and Variety.

The project has not yet received a series order. “Future Housewives” remains in development, meaning Peacock has not greenlit episodes or set a release date.

What is Future Housewives about?

The show is set in New Beverly Hills, a “decadent asteroid colony” where wealthy socialites juggle “bioengineered beauty regimens, ruthless rivalries and interplanetary scandals,” according to the official logline shared by both outlets. Their world is upended by the arrival of a “young, starry-eyed outsider,” whose presence reveals how disconnected the colony’s elite have become. Variety described the title as a meta nod to Madix’s own reality-TV career. Neither outlet said which character Madix will play.

Who’s behind Future Housewives

Braga, known for his work on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Star Trek: Voyager” and for co-creating “Star Trek: Enterprise,” wrote the show and will executive produce alongside Madix, MacFarlane and Erica Huggins. Braga previously collaborated with MacFarlane on “The Orville.”

Virtual reality pioneer Jaron Lanier serves as a co-executive producer, along with Rachel Hargreaves-Heald and Emily Kochman, TheWrap reported. Universal Global Television is the studio.

“Future Housewives” also marks the first scripted project from Over Fences, the production company Madix recently launched, according to Deadline.

Madix’s growing résumé

Madix spent 11 years on Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules,” Variety noted, before she became host of Peacock’s “Love Island USA.” Her screen acting so far includes guest spots on NBC’s “St. Denis Medical” and ABC’s “Will Trent.” Deadline also lists the Lifetime movie “Buying Back My Daughter” and “Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader,” a Roger Corman production, among her credits.

Onstage, Madix first played Roxie Hart in Broadway’s “Chicago” in 2024. She is now starring as singer Connie Francis in the Broadway musical “Just in Time.”
