Daily Devotional For Tuesday Thoughts | February 10, 2026

It’s Tuesday, and time for your daily devotion. Jeremiah, one of the Bible’s major prophets, also resisted God’s divine call at the beginning. Obeying God may not always be easy, but it’s tied to purpose. In today’s daily devotion, know that sometimes the call seems bigger than you, but God never asks you to do anything alone.

God Calls Jeremiah

In Jeremiah 1:5, God calls Jeremiah with these words: “Before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Jeremiah doesn’t exactly greet this news with excitement. In verse 6, he answers, “Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.”

Jeremiah considers himself too young and inadequate for the role of prophet to the nations. However, God doesn’t just move on and choose someone else. He corrects Jeremiah in verse 7: “Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.” In your daily devotion, know that God doesn’t consider your inadequacies, for He equips you with power.

Jeremiah’s Message

God understands Jeremiah is fearful, but commands him not to fear man. Jeremiah’s message is highly unpopular. At a time when false prophets are prophesying peace and safety for Judah against Babylonian forces, Jeremiah’s message is opposite: Surrender, or the king will be annihilated, the nation will go into captivity, and Jerusalem will be burned. In this daily devotion, realize God’s call may make you unliked, but it’s better to please God rather than man.

Judgment is Coming

In verses 14-18, God warns Jeremiah of Jerusalem’s impending judgment for their wickedness, forsaking Him, and idolatry. In verse 19, God assures Jeremiah: “And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.” In today’s daily devotion, say this out loud: “If God is for me, who can be against me?”

In Jeremiah 2, Jeremiah’s first assignment is to lift his voice in Jerusalem and proclaim God’s message. God’s call may take you out of your comfort zone, but faithfulness to God involves obedience to His will. Jeremiah recounts how Judah once sought after God, who had brought them into a fruitful land and blessed them, but now they’ve turned to false gods and worshipped them. Through Jeremiah, God pleads for them to return by acknowledging their sins, for if they continue in rebellion, punishment will consume them.

Although a difficult message to deliver to people unwilling to change, Jeremiah does it. The people reject God’s message, but Jeremiah continues to be a voice against wickedness, warning them to return to God. In your daily devotion, determine to commit to God’s call. His purpose is always for the right reasons. In this case, God was using Jeremiah to save a nation and a people called by His name.

Remain Faithful

Throughout the Book of Jeremiah, the prophet remains faithful to God. He endures numerous plots against him by those resistant to God’s message. In 11:21, the men of Anathoth threaten him: “Prophesy not in the name of the Lord, that thou die not by our hand.”  In Jeremiah 38:6, he’s put in a muddy cistern to sink to his death, but God sends someone to deliver him. In this daily devotion, commit to being faithful to God.

God Will See You Through

In Tuesday’s daily devotion, decide not to resist but to trust God’s direction. There’s no promise that it’ll be easy, but God protected Jeremiah and saw him through. And He will do the same for you.
