Inside the Jared Leto Allegations: What the BBC Documentary Reveals and What He’s Saying Now
The BBC aired a new documentary, “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” on July 29, 2026. The film documents the stories of four young women who have accused the actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman, Leto, of having sexual relations with them when they were underage, between 2002 and 2016. The documentary, and many previous reports of his conduct, are chilling.
Leto has denied the claims, calling them “categorically false.” However, this is the third wave of allegations against him since 2005. Are all of these women lying? What could be the motive for something like that?
The BBC Documentary — What’s New
The makers of the BBC documentary spoke to a total of 10 women, and 3 of them appeared in the YouTube version of the documentary available for this writer to view. They made very serious allegations.
The Women
“Etta” alleges that she met Leto in 2014, when she was only 16 years old. He asked for her email address to invite her to his Oscar party. She didn’t go, but many emails, text messages and calls followed. And, in 2016, he (allegedly) contacted her again and asked her to sign an NDA. She didn’t sign it.
“Isabel” alleges that she was 17 when she met Leto. That was 2002, when she was working in a Las Vegas mall. He invited her to his hotel, where he allegedly engaged in inappropriate conduct with her.
“Clara” was only 17 when someone at a Thirty Seconds to Mars approached her and asked for her number for Leto. She said that she was invited to his home multiple times, where he allegedly asked her to call him “Daddy” and had sex with her.
“Seeing him continue to do whatever he wants to do and get accolades for it is pretty infuriating because he’s left a trail of emotional destruction for a lot of young women.” – Clara
Where’s the Proof?
“Simon” was the name given to the one man in the documentary. He worked with Leto’s band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, for about ten years. He said he witnessed uncomfortable interactions with young women and girls who were brought to wherever the band was rehearsing or performing. He recounted how one girl had to be dropped off and picked up by her parents! He saw them taken to Leto’s bedroom.
The BBC team has spoken to the accusers’ friends and family. And, they’ve seen some of the messages, photos, and the NDA.
Jared Leto’s Response
On July 29, 2026, Jared Leto spoke to PEOPLE regarding the claims against him. Leto had this to say:
“I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”
It seems he hasn’t addressed any of the individual accusations, only making this broad denial of wrongdoing. When the BBC reached out to him for comment before airing the documentary, the actor did not respond.
An Alleged Pattern of Behavior
The BBC’s documentary is only the most recent journalism to bring these behaviors to light. Accusers’ accounts go back as far as 2005, at least. Jared Leto turned 34 that year. Just let that sink in for a minute.
Last year, Airmail’s Elena Clavarino spoke to women who had experiences with him. One of the women told her, “It’s been an open secret for a long time,” when referring to Leto’s behavior with underage girls. She recounts the story of a woman who met Leto at the age of 16. He repeatedly called her in the middle of the night, and she described the explicit questions he would ask her.
And we can’t forget the Instagram story from Allie Teilz. In 2025, she reposted a 2012 Facebook status where she said, “Youre [sic] not really in L.A. until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage… In a kilt.. And a snow hat.” One of Leto’s representatives said, “Ms. Teilz’s allegations are demonstrably false.” But what followed was a deluge of other women sharing their own stories about him. She also said:
“I was assaulted and traumatized by this creep when I was 17. He knew my age and didn’t care. What he did was predatory, terrifying and unacceptable.”
In 2015, James Gunn posted a video, which he later deleted, where he said Leto slept with underage girls. He apologized for the video but didn’t retract his statement.
So, What’s Next for Jared Leto?

As of the writing of this article, July 30, 2026, no criminal charges have been filed against him. As expected, the public is split, but after reading some comments on articles shared on X, it looks like a lot of people aren’t surprised. And many are frustrated.
Despite all the accusations over the years, this actor has escaped investigation and blacklisting, while others have been canceled for less. Of course, these are all allegations until an investigation can prove otherwise, but a moral person has to ask why there haven’t been any official charges or investigations.
According to IMDb, Leto has one movie in post-production, “Lunik Heist,” and one that is rumored, “Assassination.” His most recent releases were “Masters of the Universe” as Skeletor and “Tron: Ares” in 2025. His band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, has also announced a tour for 2027.
