Sarah J. Maas Reveals Release Dates For Two New Novels in “A Court of Thorns and Roses” Series
Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas just announced two new upcoming novels in her hit series that began with “A Court of Thorns and Roses.” Between her “Throne of Glass” and “Crescent City” series, plus “A Court of Thorns and Roses” (ACOTAR), Maas has been a staple of bestseller lists and book-related social media for years.
Since the release of “A Court of Silver Flames” in 2021, fans have been clamoring for news about the next books in the series, and the wait for an official release date is finally over.
When Will ACOTAR Books 6 & 7 Officially Release?
On Wednesday, March 4, Maas joined Alex Cooper on her hit podcast, Call Her Daddy, to discuss her upcoming novels, revealing the release dates for the next two books in the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series. ACOTAR book 6 will release on Oct. 27, 2026, while book 7 will release just a few months later, on Jan.12, 2027.
Few details have been revealed about the plot or even title of these upcoming books, but Maas did say that “the story that was finally ready to come out of me was big. Really, really big.”
Maas’ hit series began in 2015 with the release of “A Court of Thorns and Roses,” but the series really took off during the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks in large part to its popularity on the bookish side of TikTok, known as BookTok.
The story at the heart of “A Court of Thorns and Roses” follows Feyre Archeron, who finds herself whisked away to the world of the Fae, where she eventually meets the High Lord of the Night Court, Rhysand. Although the books largely center on Feyre and Rhys, many other characters come and go, as readers learn more about the politics and culture of the faerie realm of Prythian.
The most recent book in the ACOTAR series, “A Court of Silver Flames,” was released in 2021 and debuted at number one on both The New York Times and USA Today best-seller lists.
The Bookish World of Sarah J. Maas

In addition to the ever-popular “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series, Maas has also published the completed “Throne of Glass” series, which includes eight books, as well as the ongoing “Crescent City” series, which currently includes three books. While each series has its own distinct world, they all contain a diverse cast of compelling characters navigating life in fantastical worlds.
According to Sarah J. Maas’ official website, her books have sold 70 million copies in English worldwide and have been published in 38 languages. Readers looking to start their Sarah J. Maas journey can begin with any of her three series, starting with either “A Court of Thorns and Roses,” “Throne of Glass,” or “House of Earth and Blood.”
What Happened To The “A Court of Thorns and Roses” Television Show?
A live-action adaptation of the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series was officially announced in 2021, with “Outlander” creator Ronald D. Moore attached. Despite obvious fan interest in the show, the series was scrapped by Hulu and 20th Television in February 2025.
With its complex magic system and many fantastical elements, it’s not hard to imagine why ACOTAR would be a difficult series to bring to life on film. It would likely have to have a large budget and lots of special effects to accurately capture the world of Prythian and its diverse inhabitants.
Still, Maas has not given up on plans for a future adaptation, saying that she has the “rights back to everything now.” While she’s currently focusing on the books, fans may still get to see Feyre and Rhysand grace their screens at some point in the future.
