Top 7 Recent Romantic Horror Movies to Watch On Valentine’s Day

Ah, the day when love is the topic for all in all its shapes and forms. The love for your partners, family, friends, yourselves, and horror films. For some people who love to snuggle up on the couch to watch something bloody (particularly, a crazy horror fan like myself), we can still celebrate the holiday with a good romantic horror movie marathon. Here are some modern horror films that will eat your hearts out!

1. “Bones and All” (2022): A Hunger for Love and Flesh

Let’s kick off this romantic horror list with a bloody good coming-of-age journey about two star-crossed souls. Starring Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet, this murderous expedition brings together a pair of cannibalistic youths for a trip into the world of the Eaters. Along the way, their love blooms while their morals weigh down on them. What makes this debacle worse are some of the characters they meet along the way who share a similar diet, but their selection of meat throws a few wrenches in their plans.

2. Fresh (2022): Romantic Horror is on The Menu

Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as Noa, a mundane woman in search of love and companionship, but gets more than she expected when she meets a charming man. Coming in hot from the “Captain America” franchise, Sebastian Stan brings out the “big cuts” as Steve (I know, ironic), a meat harvester specializing in carving up women and selling their fresh meat to billionaires. Despite having done this catch and capture routine, Steve finds himself more drawn to Noa than he realized.

3. “Lisa Frankenstein” (2024): Love Electrified!

What if Dr. Frankenstein were swapped out with a teenage girl who’s looking for the perfect man? Meet Lisa, played by Kathryn Newton, a strange girl obsessed with a dead poet who miraculously comes back from the dead on a dark and stormy night. This comedic romantic horror film brings the rage, screams, laughs, and “aaahhs” as these two miscreants terrorize their small town.

4. “Your Monster” (2024): Emotional Support Beast

It’s not every day you find a romantic horror movie about a monster in your closet! A down-on-her-luck actress, played by Melissa Barrera, finds out that there’s a neurotic yet charming monster living in her home. Their relationship starts as bickering roommates, with the creature wanting her gone, but soon spirals into a wicked romance about loving oneself, and acknowledging your inner (and outer) beasts. A comedic horror spin on the Beauty and the Beast tale, this movie will have you screaming with laughter.

5. “Companion” (2025): Build-A-Bot Goes Wrong

Iris is a beautiful woman who falls in love with a man named Josh, but it comes to show that she’s more than just a woman. She’s a robot and a murderous one at that. Especially when her lover turns out to be controlling in more ways than one. This romantic horror movie, starring Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid, brings a messed-up thriller about toxic relationships, communication, and “mechanical” independence.

6. “Heart Eyes” (2025): Killing the Mood and Couples

Ah, a good old-fashioned romantic horror slasher will always bring the love and gore, especially when the film is littered with lovey-dovey couples. We follow Jay and Ally, a cute couple who fall into each other’s lives like a rom-com, only for a rose-tinted, heart-eyed serial killer to third wheel his way in. No couple is safe from this heartbreaker, and it’s up to them to stop this madman once and for all.

7. “Together” (2025): We’re Stuck With Each Other

This romantic horror film morphs body horror into the saying “joined at the hip” as we watch two people struggle to keep their hands off (or in this case, out) of each other. Tim and Millie move into a new home to try to revive their relationship, but find themselves in a “sticky” predicament. An unknown force keeps pulling them together, causing their bodies to fuse whenever they touch. This mysterious occurrence pushes them to the limit and beyond as they try to figure out what is happening.
