MMA fans have waited nearly three years for a new entry in the EA Sports UFC franchise. The wait is finally coming to an end. EA recently confirmed that UFC 6 will hit the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on June 19.

If waiting until the summer feels impossible, you have a couple of solid options to step into the Octagon early. This guide breaks down exactly how you can play the game ahead of schedule through the upcoming closed playtest and the Ultimate Edition.

EA Sports UFC 6: Sign Up for the Exclusive Closed Playtest

EA is hosting a closed playtest a full month before the official launch. This test runs from Thursday, May 7, through Sunday, May 10. It offers lucky fans a rare opportunity to go hands-on with the game before the general public sees any real gameplay footage. Spots are highly limited, so you need to act fast if you want to participate.

To throw your hat into the ring, head over to the official EA Playtesting website. You will need to create an account and fill out your basic information. Once you finish setting up your profile, simply select the EA Sports UFC 6 playtest to register your interest. EA does not guarantee a spot for everyone who signs up, but registering is the only way to get a chance.

Why Your Feedback Matters

EA has not released the exact details of what content the playtest will include. However, the main goal of this early access period is to gather valuable feedback from die-hard UFC fans. Players will test the mechanics, look for bugs, and suggest minor improvements.

Participating in a closed playtest allows you to directly shape the final product. The developers use this hands-on data to tweak gameplay balance and fix technical issues before the June 19 release. It is a great way to ensure the game delivers the best possible experience for the community.

Ultimate Edition Perks and Early Access

If you miss out on the playtest, you can still secure early access by pre-ordering the game. EA opened pre-orders recently, revealing two distinct versions of the title. Former Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira graces the cover of the Standard Edition, while former Featherweight Champion Max Holloway takes the spotlight for the Ultimate Edition.

Dropping $99.99 on the Ultimate Edition guarantees you a full week of early access before the standard launch. Alongside the seven-day head start, buyers receive a massive haul of digital content. This includes a UFC Legends Fighter Pass, an Expansion Pass, a VIP Pass, the Iconic Moments Bundle, and the Rivalry Bundle.

What to Expect From the New Release

Excitement is building rapidly, especially with a full reveal promised soon. A recent leak from a well-known retailer hinted at massive changes coming to the franchise. According to the deleted listing, players can expect two brand-new game modes. These modes will supposedly let you relive the careers of UFC greats or build your own legacy from the backrooms to the main event.

The leak also mentioned a new “Flow State” gameplay feature. While the exact mechanics remain a mystery, it sounds like a system designed to reward momentum and technical striking.

Between the closed playtest in May and the Ultimate Edition launch in June, fight fans have plenty to look forward to. Head to the EA Playtesting site right now to register for the May playtest, or lock in your Ultimate Edition pre-order to secure your spot in the Octagon.
