Disney Jr. is an important arm of the Walt Disney Company. For many kids, shows on the platform are their first introduction to the famous brand. The company has often been able to create engaging series that kids fall in love with and parents support. At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the company announced that multiple shows would be getting renewed and also announced a brand new show coming soon.
Disney Jr. Announces Show Renewals
Many popular series will continue to have new episodes on Disney Jr. SuperKitties received the green light for a fourth season. Kids will continue to have adventures in Kittydale with Ginny, Sparks, Buddy, and Bitsy. Spidey and His Amazing Friends, whose fourth season premieres on June 16, has already been renewed for a fifth season. It was announced at Annecy that the show starring one of Marvel’s famous superheroes will also be getting a sixth season.
A couple of other shows are getting second seasons after debuting last year. Disney Jr. Ariel – The Little Mermaid, and RoboGobo will be getting second seasons. In addition, many of the animated shorts that happen in between shows are getting new episodes, featuring Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Winnie the Pooh from the Hundred Acre Wood. The announcement at Annecy wasn’t just about renewals. They also announced a brand new show coming soon.
Sam Witch Coming Soon
The new series follows a young girl who is learning to become a witch and has to navigate all of the obstacles that come with learning magic. She won’t be alone as her family, friends, and even magical pets will be around to guide her in her studies. Disney Jr. has done well with their series as of late, and this one sounds like another adorable adventure.
In addition to the shows, Disney Jr. will be getting a holiday special called Dasher. Based on the best-selling picture book by Matt Tavares, Dasher: How a Brave Little Doe Changed Christmas Forever, this will debut next year during the holidays.
Final Thoughts
This many renewals show that Disney Jr. is doing the right things with their shows. There are so many kids’ shows out there that many of them only last about three seasons. The company has multiple entering their fourth season and beyond. While some have questioned their choices in movies, the Disney Jr. arm of the company is doing very well.
