What Songs The Album Includes
A Whole New Sound features 12 iconic Disney songs performed by noteworthy pop-punk bands, each with its own unique style. The album includes music from classic films like The Little Mermaid, Hercules, and Aladdin as well as newer Disney hits like Encanto and Frozen. The bands also range from past to present, with bands like Simple Plan and New Found Glory, who were established in the 90s, alongside recently founded groups like Magnolia Park, who formed in 2018. The majority of the bands, though, have been popular since at least the mid-2000s, harkening even more to that Millennial/Gen Z nostalgia.
Disney has blessed fans with three singles: New Found Glory’s cover of “Part of Your World,” Simple Plan’s version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” and Magnolia Park’s take on “I2I.” The songs are everything you’d expect and more from a Disney pop-punk album. All three covers carry the distinct styles of the bands performing them along with a heaping spoonful of Disney magic. “I2I” is especially interesting, as it hasn’t been featured on any DisneyMania volume in the past, whereas the other two have. Releasing this one as a single ahead of time was a smart move for Disney, really getting those 90s kids and fans of A Goofy Movie hooked for the full album.
