Sean “Diddy” Combs has been moved from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania, the Associated Press reported Friday. The transfer comes after reports of contraband at his previous facility and lands him at a low-security prison south of Williamsport, roughly 155 miles west of New York City.

What Happened And What Was Announced

Combs, 56, is serving a four-year, two-month sentence stemming from his conviction on prostitution-related charges for transporting people across state lines for sexual encounters, according to the Associated Press. A representative for Combs addressed the move in a statement to the outlet, saying, “Decisions about inmate placement are made by the BOP, and we are not in a position to speak to the circumstances surrounding this transfer. Sean remains focused on moving forward, and we hope that his time at the new facility will be productive and without unnecessary disruption.”

What It Means For Fans Following The Case

For those tracking the case, the transfer follows reports of contraband at FCI Fort Dix that led to Combs being placed in the facility’s special housing unit, a secured section used for inmates with disciplinary issues or security concerns, according to the Associated Press. The Bureau of Prisons also pushed back on a separate report claiming Combs was injured in a fight with another inmate at Fort Dix, telling the AP that account was false and did not happen.

Last month, NBC News reported that Combs had been smuggling in Hennessy, having fellow inmates cook, clean, make his bed and give him massages, and using a contraband cellphone to view social media.

Background On The Sentence And Appeal

Combs was docked 41 days of good-conduct credit as part of proceedings tied to his incarceration, pushing his projected release date back to March 2, 2028, according to the Associated Press. His legal team has also been pursuing an appeal of his conviction and sentence. In April 2026, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments in that bid, and the court has yet to issue a ruling, per the Associated Press.

What’s Next

Combs now begins serving his sentence at FCI Allenwood Low, a low-security federal facility, with his release date currently set for March 2, 2028. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has not yet ruled on his appeal, and any decision from that court would be the next major development in the case.
