The official trailer for Depeche Mode’s concert film Depeche Mode: M has arrived. Released on September 17, 2025, the film showcases footage from the band’s three sold-out shows at Mexico City’s Foro Sol Stadium. The footage was taken during their 2023-2024 Memento Mori Tour. The tour included 112 concerts worldwide, drawing over three million fans, and was described as a “stunning celebration of life and music”. The film premiered at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival and is being released by Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision.

Depeche Mode: M Tackles Multiple Compelling Themes

Directed by award-winning Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías, the film blends concert performances with interpretive segments. It also explores the profound connection between music, mortality, and Mexican death traditions. The trailer features live performances of hits “Enjoy the Silence,” “Personal Jesus,” and “World In My Eyes”. The latter was dedicated to founding member Andy Fletcher, who passed away in 2022.

The Band’s Humble Beginnings

Formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980, Depeche Mode originally consisted of Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher, and Vince Clarke. The band currently consists of Gore and Gahan. The band’s name is derived from a French fashion magazine, Dépêche Mode, which translates to “fashion dispatch” or “fashion news”. Their origins trace back to 1976 when Vince Clarke and Andy Fletcher formed the band No Romance in China. This later evolved into the band Composition of Sound. With the addition of Martin Gore in 1979, Dave Gahan joined the group in 1980, leading to the formation of Depeche Mode.

Depeche Mode’s Legacy Continues to Shine

The band’s debut album, Speak & Spell, was released in 1981, featured the hit single “Just Can’t Get Enough”. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, the five-time Grammy nominees have sold over 100 million records worldwide. Additionally, they have two Echo Awards, one Brit Award, and one MTV Europe Award. They have also been involved in charitable efforts, including support for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Today, Depeche Mode continues to be a major force in electronic and alternative music, with a lasting influence on artists across genres.

Depeche Mode: M will have a limited theatrical release in IMAX theaters worldwide beginning October 28, 2025.
