Daily Devotional Monday Motivation | June 15, 2025

In daily devotional, someone's hand is placed on the Bible with a cup of coffee and notepad ready to study. Black letters spell out "Pray."

Happy Monday! It’s time for your daily devotional. When Jesus enters your life, He brings a new order. Your life now includes prayer, or spending time in the presence of God. Believers’ prayers should be ready, consistent, and persevering. In this daily devotional, prayer is foundational to your life as a believer, and it comes with rejoicing and thanksgiving.

The Necessity of Prayer

In I Thessalonians 5:16-18, Paul says,  “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Paul knew something about adversity. He had established the Thessalonian church during His second missionary journey after seeing a man in a vision beckoning him to come to Macedonia and help them. Paul then crossed the Aegean sea to bring the gospel to Europe.

There, Paul encountered hostile Jews, so severe he fled for his life, temporarily leaving the young church he’d established. He pens 1 Thessalonians after a trip by Timothy revealed they were doing well. As their spiritual father, Paul imparts to them the necessity of prayer. In your daily devotional, your spiritual journey is influenced by prayer.

Rejoice Evermore

Paul begins by admonishing them to rejoice. Nehemiah 8:10 says the joy of the Lord is your strength. As a believer, there’s nothing God Almighty can’t do for you. Therefore, rejoicing is the only response to the One who loves you with an everlasting love. Your rejoicing isn’t just momentarily, but evermore. This joy sets the stage for prayer.  A joyful heart eagerly praises God who fills it with joy and desires your communion.

It didn’t seem Paul had anything to rejoice about, but he wasn’t bound to the natural realm. In the spiritual realm, you have a continual feast. You are a part of a kingdom where God dwells and supernatural joy flows from His throne. In this daily devotional, when you rejoice in the spirit, you’re strengthened by Him.

Pray Without Ceasing

The next thing Paul says is “pray without ceasing.” How is that possible with everything you have going on? But Paul isn’t advocating staying on your knees from morning to midnight. He’s speaking of an attitude of prayer. You’re a three-part being, Paul prayed that your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless. Notice he began with your spirit. Your spirit has become alive to God. It’s how you connect to Him, for you must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Your spirit should be predominant over your flesh, will, and emotions. In today’s daily devotional, praying without ceasing means you’re spirit-led, quick to pray, and you have a praying spirit.

In Everything Give Thanks

Paul encourages them to give thanks in everything. He could have complained about Jews causing him to leave before he was ready, and not teaching them everything he planned at that time. He and his partners went to Berea where his persecutors arrived and stirred up persecution there. Then he escaped to Athens.

Instead of writing about how hard it was to be an apostle with all the attacks coming against him, and how they should always watch their backs, he wrote about giving thanks. In your daily devotional, when your focus is on giving God thanks, you’ll persevere over every obstacle.

God’s Will For Your Life

In Monday’s daily devotional, Paul confirms that rejoicing, prayer, and thanksgiving are God’s will for your life. Your life now has a new order, and you’re led by the Spirit of God. Christ, the Anointed One, is your Leader. In today’s daily devotional, consistent prayer is your spiritual foundation.
