Daily Devotional for Tuesday Thoughts | April 28, 2026
It’s Tuesday, and time for your daily devotional. Revelation 22 is the last chapter of the Bible. John was shown multiple visions by the angel Jesus appointed to reveal the end times. The last words Jesus utters are “Surely I come quickly, Amen.” In today’s devotional, Jesus encourages you to trust the prophetic visions given to John.
God is Light
In 22:1, the angel shows John spectacular sights, like the River of Life flowing from God and the Lamb’s throne. He also sees the tree of life with twelve distinct fruits and leaves for the healing of the nations. John finds that curses don’t exist in Heaven, and there, God’s children will behold Him. God is light, so there will be no need for sunlight, day, or night. In verse 6, the angel refers to God as the Lord God of the holy prophets, who sent him to show John things to come. In your daily devotional, God lets you see end-of-the-age events in the Book of Revelation.
Worship God Only
At the end of verse 6, Jesus pronounces a blessing on those who read Revelation: “Blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.” The visions of Revelation assure believers of God’s judgment and Christ’s return. In verse 8, John falls to worship the angel who has shown him the prophetic visions, but the angel forbids him, for angels are not to be worshipped; God is. In this daily devotional, God alone is worthy of worship.
Don’t Seal the Prophecy

In verse 10, John is instructed to make known the visions he has recorded. He is not to seal up the prophecy. The angel tells John, “For the time is at hand” for God’s revelation to the church. Habakkuk 2:3 says that the vision is for an appointed time, but in the end it will surely come to pass. God unveils the future to you through prophetic visions. In your daily devotional, the Lord teaches you to number your days and apply your heart to wisdom.
Alpha and Omega
In verse 13, Jesus again proclaims, “ I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” He speaks blessings to those who obey God, as they will enter into the gates of Heaven. In verse 16, Jesus reveals that He sent His angel to John to show him the visions he would pen and give to the churches. Then Jesus declares: “I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”
Bright and Morning Star
His messianic name is Son of David, for Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would sit upon David’s throne, as his descendant from the Tribe of Judah. Christ, the ultimate King, would establish David’s kingdom forever. In your daily devotional, the bright and morning star outshines all the stars of the universe, which is a description of Jesus, the Light of the World.
Come, Lord Jesus!
In Tuesday’s daily devotional, Jesus is the holiest, purest, and brightest star in the cosmos. Verse 17 invites God’s people to come freely to the River of Life. There’s a warning not to add to or take away from the prophecies given to John. Taking away from them will remove one’s name from the book of life. In today’s daily devotional, John ends Revelation with verse 22: “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” Shout these words, “Come, Lord Jesus!”
