Daily Devotion Monday Motivation | April 6, 2026
Happy Monday! It’s time for your daily devotion. The drama of Holy Week led to Resurrection Sunday! The Earth stood silent in vigil for this day. Then Jesus rose from the grave victoriously, just like He said. But the disciples were so grief-stricken that they had forgotten what Jesus told them. In today’s daily devotion, never forget the words of Jesus.
Jesus Paid the Price
Jesus’ death marked the final sacrifice; there would be no more need for the temple’s sacrificial system involving animals. The ultimate purpose of Jesus’ ministry was to die for mankind. In the Synoptic Gospels, Jesus told His disciples three times that He would be killed and rise again. In John, He reveals it even more. In Mark 8:31, He begins telling them that He must suffer, be rejected by the Jewish leaders, be killed, but rise on the third day. In 9:31, He says, “The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.”
Again, in 10:33, on the way to Jerusalem, Jesus explains that while there, they’ll condemn Him to death, crucify Him, but He’ll arise. Jesus steadfastly warned them of His death, but when it happened, they were unprepared. In your daily devotion, determine to listen with spiritual ears to what Jesus says. Even when you don’t understand, you must cling to His words and not forget them.
He is Risen

In Mark 16:1, when the Sabbath day was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary, James’ mother, and Salome brought spices to anoint Jesus’ body. They arrive at sunrise, wondering who would roll away the stone; surprisingly, they see that it’s already removed. As they enter the tomb, they see an angel who tells them, “Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.”
The angel instructs them to tell Jesus’ disciples that He will meet them in Galilee. How dramatic and exciting this news must have been for these women who fled away, trembling and amazed. In this daily devotion, as a disciple of Jesus, you must be vigilant in seeking Jesus and heeding His word.
Telling the Good News
The four Gospels give slightly different accounts of what happened next. However, Mary Magdalene appears in each story and was assuredly involved in first delivering the good news of His resurrection. In John 20:1-2, Mary arrives at the tomb early, and upon seeing the stone rolled away, she runs and tells Peter and John that Jesus’s body has been taken. They both run toward the tomb. They go inside and see His garments neatly folded. They go back home, still not believing He’s alive. However, Mary stays at the tomb; two angels speak to her, and when she turns, she sees Jesus.
In verse 15, thinking Jesus is the gardener, she requests, “Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus identifies Himself to her, declaring He will ascend to His Father. Afterward, she “came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord.” In this daily devotion, don’t be ashamed to tell others who doubt that you’ve seen Jesus.
Join the Company of Believers
In Monday’s daily devotion, Mary is the first to deliver the gospel message. However, she’s not the last. In today’s daily devotion, join a great company of believers who have proclaimed the good news of the gospel throughout the centuries that Jesus is not dead, but alive!
