Both Daniel Craig and Cillian Murphy are well-respected actors. Daniel Craig, best known for playing James Bond, is an accomplished actor in action films. Cillian Murphy, the Oscar award winner for his role in Oppenheimer, is an extremely skilled actor. Now the two are teaming up with La La Land‘s director Damien Chazelle for an upcoming prison movie in conjunction with Paramount Pictures.
Damien Chazelle’s Past Projects
Damien Chazelle is best known for several of the movies he’s directed, like the award-winning Whiplash (about a drummer) and Hollywood-inspired La La Land. Those are two of his most memorable films, both garnering multiple awards. He recently directed Babylon, which unfortunately did not do as well at the box office
Most recently Chazelle was in talks to do an Evel Knievel movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, but plans for that have not materialized. He recently has been embarking on another project; Chazelle is planning on a prison drama, but details are scant at this time.
Daniel Craig and Cillian Murphy in Talks
Two big stars from England and Ireland are currently in negotiations with Chazelle. Daniel and Cillian have both been approached to play in this two-hander film. What we do know is that it will be a drama about a prison, but most anything else regarding the story is being kept under wraps.
Daniel Craig’s Credits (Besides 007)
Daniel is mostly known for playing Agent 007, James Bond, but he retired several years ago. Playing the dashing secret agent can take its toll physically. Some of Craig’s notable films include Defiance, opposite Liev Schreiber, Sylvia, opposite Gwyneth Paltrow, and The Golden Compass, with Nicole Kidman.
Cillian Murphy’s Past Projects
Up until his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in Oppenheimer, Cillian was best known for playing the Scarecrow in the Batman franchise. He also starred in the horror flick 28 Days Later. The actor’s crafted and nuanced performances and piercing blue eyes make him a standout in motion pictures.
To Sum Up
Still in contractual talks, Cillian and Daniel might find themselves in pre-production before the end of this year. Although we’re not sure of the timeline, we hope that Chazelle, Craig, and Murphy will have something solidified soon. Potentially, filming can begin, and hopefully, the prison movie might premiere in 2026.
