Chris Colfer surprised Darren Criss onstage during a one-night-only concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, joining him for a duet of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” in a “Glee” reunion moment, according to Variety.

The performance paid homage to their “Glee” characters Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson, the fan-favorite couple whose romance became one of the show’s signature storylines. Criss started the song solo, intending to sing both parts himself, before Colfer walked out a few verses in to complete the duet.

How The “Glee” Reunion Moment Unfolded

Criss told the Royal Albert Hall crowd he had planned to carry the whole number alone. “It’s not supposed to be like that, but I’ve managed to pull off so many things,” he said, just before Colfer appeared.

Colfer then delivered his own line to the audience, needling his former co-star for trying to go it alone. “The only thing inappropriate about doing this song is doing it without me,” Colfer joked.

The Song’s History On “Glee”

Criss and Colfer first sang “Baby It’s Cold Outside” together on “Glee” in the Season 2 episode “A Very Glee Christmas,” which aired in 2010. The duet arrived during the same season that saw Kurt and Blaine begin dating, a relationship that grew into one of the series’ most closely followed arcs.

The couple’s story eventually carried through to “Glee’s” final season, when Kurt and Blaine got engaged and married. The pairing remained central to the show’s fan base throughout its run, and the Christmas duet became one of the moments most associated with the characters.

Glee Reboot In Development

The surprise performance comes as creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed a script for a potential “Glee” reboot is complete. Last month, Murphy told Entertainment Tonight that he, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, who wrote the first two seasons, had finished writing a script and are in touch with about 10 original cast members, though none have read it yet.
