Pete Davidson Accident
On March 4, 2023, Davidson crashed his car into a home in Beverly Hills while driving with his then-girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders. Pete Davidson and Sui Wonders met while working together on Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. Deadline reported that Davidson allegedly lost control of the car during the accident, crashing into a fire hydrant and then the house. Luckily, no one was injured in the crash. So, what are Davidson’s consequences after the crash?
Pete Davidson Community Service
According to CNN, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Court said that Davidson is required to complete 50 hours of community service as part of the diversion program. The order stipulated that the SNL star would be allowed to complete community service in New York, which is the location of Davidson’s primary residence. In his sentencing, Davidson was also ordered to undergo 12 hours of traffic school and is required to pay restitution for the property damage he caused.
Per the Los Angeles Times, if Davidson successfully completes the program, the reckless driving charge will not be entered into his record. Davidson said he plans to perform his community service hours with the New York Fire Department, where his father used to be a firefighter. Davidson’s father famously died during the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks.
Davidson’s Public Struggles
This isn’t the first time Pete Davidson has made headlines in recent years. He has been very open with his mental health struggles in the past, even sharing his borderline personality disorder diagnosis back in 2018. Upon sharing his diagnosis, Davidson also shared that he was undergoing treatment for the disease. One can assume that the goal of Davidson’s openness about his own mental health is to shed light on the subject and serve as hope to others battling struggles of their own.
Although it is still unknown when he will begin his community service, it is going to take Davidson around a year and a half to complete treatment. Davidson has already stated that he plans to complete his community service with the New York Fire Department, along with the sentenced 12 hours of designated traffic school. Whether it was truly an accident or an unfortunate result of Davidson’s own personal struggles, here’s hoping Davidson gets the help he needs to move on from this incident. Surely, we’ll see more of this talented comedian in the future.
