Famous YouTube influencer Luke Goodwin has lost the battle against cancer. He died on Aug. 2, 2024, at 35. Goodwin gained fame for documenting his cancer journey on his YouTube channel. Luke Goodwin, a native of Grimsby, England, was diagnosed with stage four Leiomyosarcoma. He is survived by his wife, two children, mom and dad.

Goodwin was diagnosed in 2022 with last-stage Leiomyosarcoma. According to Penn Medicine, a leiomyosarcoma is a malignant (cancerous) tumor found in smooth muscle. It is rare, with just over a thousand cases occurring annually in the US. However, the disease is treatable, and the chances of its recurrence can be lowered if caught early. Unfortunately, his cancer was only discovered when it was in the final stage. He was given a year to live, but he survived for far longer with several rounds of chemotherapy.
Luke started his YouTube channel, “I Will Not Be Defeated,” in April 2023. He had over 7,000 subscribers and created awareness about Leiomyosarcoma. Goodwin also organized charity events and raised money for treatments for others with the disease. Additionally, he updated his followers about his condition and different treatments. Luke shared his final video on July 18, saying he felt close to death. “I’ve been out of breath, sick, phlegm, you name it. But I am on the mend, I will not be defeated,” he said.

Goodwin’s spouse, Beckey, broke the news of his passing on August 4. Luke and Beckey shared children, Taylor, 5, and Scarlett, 3. Beckey revealed the sad news in a video on Luke’s YouTube channel. “This is a video I never wanted to do,” the grieving widow said, but mentioned that her husband wanted her to do it. “Luke did sadly pass away on August 2 peacefully. He was at home. He had me, Beckey, his wife, his mom and his dad all by his side. Luke is at peace now. He’s not in any pain.”
Beckey looked visibly tired as she added that her husband was “an amazing person.” She added, “He really was. He showed me how to be strong even when you’re going through the toughest times. He was an amazing dad, son, husband, and his legacy will carry on.” The mom of two thanked everyone for their support and shared that the loss was still “raw.” However, she promised to be strong. “That’s what Luke would say,” she added. Beckey also pledged to keep the channel going to keep Goodwin’s legacy alive if necessary.

Following the revelation of Goodwin’s death, several of his followers offered their condolences. Many also shared how his life inspired them. “Oh noo! I’m just now seeing this and I’m heartbroken to know of Luke’s passing. I’m so sorry to his friends and family and my condolences fly high. Luke, you fought a good fight. You were so strong! RIP so so sad. 😞🥺🙏,” a fan wrote.
Another fan wrote, “RIP big fella …what a bloody fight you fought you were and are still a top bloke. You are missed very much.” A third person commented, “God bless you, Luke was an amazing man who showed the world to keep fighting with a smile your face. Keep strong and keep smiling Becky. You are in all our thoughts and prayers. RIP Brother.”
