Kate Middleton was seen at Wimbledon this past weekend accompanied by her daughter, 9-year-old Princess Charlotte, and sister, Pippa Middleton. This is only Kate Middleton’s second public outing since revealing her cancer diagnosis in March. Middleton and members of her family were attending the finals of the gentlemen’s singles tournament, which was a match between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. This is the second year in a row the pair have competed in the event.

Per The Independent, Middleton attended the gentlemen’s singles tennis finals on Sunday and even presented the trophy to tournament winner Carlos Alcaraz after the match. Middleton, who is reportedly an avid tennis fan herself, was greeted by a standing ovation from the crowds at Wimbledon. In photos courtesy of People, she appeared to be smiling and waving to the crowd throughout the applause. To see the photos, click here!
The photographer who snapped the photos of Middleton told the publication that Middleton appeared to be taking it all in. He said, “When Kate usually comes in, she walks down the steps and into her seat. She doesn’t normally stand and wave. For her to acknowledge it and take in the applause was special.” He goes on to praise the crowd’s reaction to Middleton’s appearance, stating, “For them to cheer and clap when she came in was a great support for her. Wimbledon had been waiting with bated breath for her to return, and she was back.”
Kate Middleton Appeared in Good Spirits
During a meeting with some of the players yesterday, Middleton appeared in high spirits. She was reported telling players how much the Royal Family loves tennis. She was seen saying, “As a family, we play a lot,” before going on to recount Charlotte’s tales of practicing just the day before. The young princess was very excited to attend the tournament the following day!
Throughout the day, Middleton was also photographed greeting and laughing with players at Wimbledon’s Centre Court. Fans expressed their gratitude to the royal for her attendance at the event, with many unsure she would be able to make it this year due to her health struggles. It is typically tradition for members of the Royal Family to hand out trophies at the event.
Other Royal Appearances
While Kate and Charlotte were taking in the sights and sounds of Wimbledon, Prince William, and Prince George were cheering on England in the Euros in Berlin. England ultimately lost to Spain. However, despite the loss, it appeared to be a great day for sports for everyone involved! Although it’s only Middleton’s second public outing since her diagnosis, here’s hoping she makes more appearances at events going forward. Middleton’s first public appearance since revealing her cancer was just a few weeks ago when she joined the royal family in attending the Trooping the Colour celebration in honor of King Charles’ 75th birthday. Kate Middleton’s Health Struggles
It was reported back in March that Kate Middleton was diagnosed with cancer, although specifics of her condition remain unknown. Since then, public sentiment has been positive for the Princess of Wales’s recovery, with Prince William responding to questions surrounding her recovery by stating, “She’s doing very well, thank you.” Back in June, it was also reported that Middleton was undergoing preventative chemotherapy as a part of her treatment regimen. Here’s hoping the royal is now on the up and up!
