The Trolls actor and former NSYNC boyband member was arraigned early on Tuesday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated. Justin Timberlake Was Arrested for Drunk Driving!
On Tuesday, June 18, pop singer Justin Timberlake was arrested in upstate New York after allegedly driving under the influence. Per People, the Sag Harbor police department released a statement after Timberlake’s arrest, stating:
“On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 AM, Justin R. Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel. A traffic stop was initiated by a Police Officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Mr. Timberlake was placed under arrest, processed, and held overnight for morning arraignment. Mr. Timberlake was arraigned at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM where he was released on his own recognizance.”
Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident. Timberlake’s next court appearance will be on July 26.

According to a statement from Ed Burke, Timberlake’s lawyer, “The charge was a single count of driving while intoxicated because he refused the breath test.” Mr. Burke continued, “Mr. Timberlake was also charged with two other court citations, running a stop sign and not traveling in the correct traffic lane.”
Several reports after the incident allude to Timberlake being in the car with friends after attending a dinner in Sag Harbor, where they presumably had some drinks. Supposedly, Timberlake told police he “only had one drink.” However, one account of the event stated, “His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

Who is Justin Timberlake?
Before Justin Timberlake was arrested, he often made headlines for his highly regarded music career. Timberlake is known for popular songs like “Cry Me a River,” “Mirrors,” and “SexyBack.” He was a member of the famous boy band NSYNC, which is known for songs like “Bye Bye Bye” and “It’s Gonna Be Me.” While in the band, Timberlake was a lead vocalist alongside another member, JC Chasez. Other members of NSYNC included Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Lance Bass.
In recent years, Timberlake has also been the voice behind the infamous Trolls franchise, where he voices Branch, a begrudging but well-meaning Troll doll. In addition to starring in the popular children’s film, Timberlake also composed all the music for the movies. Arguably, Timberlake’s most popular contribution to the franchise has been “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” which was released as the main single from the 2016 film. At the 59th Grammy Awards, “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” won the award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. It was also nominated for the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, although it ultimately lost both categories.
