Jenna Ortega is nipping the rumor that she’s dating Johnny Depp in the bud. Among rumors that she and Depp were an item, that they were working on a project together, and that they were co-stars in the Beetlejuice sequel, the actress is telling the world that she hasn’t made any contact with Depp. Despite being quizzed about past remarks, she calls all the gossip “insane.”

The Wednesday star claimed she had never been in contact with Depp. It seemed like funny gossip at the time, as she tagged it “ridiculous.” In concluding her write-up, she added “…leave us alone.” Ortega clarified that she does not know Depp and has never met him before.
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise legend hasn’t fed the rumors either. His spokesperson explicitly shared that the two stars had never made contact. The statement highlighted the actor’s distaste for the romance gossip. JD had no intent of contacting the actress and never worked on any project with her. To top it all off, his spokesperson disclosed that he was “appalled” by the “baseless” rumors. The 61-year-old believed the gossip was aimed at discrediting his career.
Jenna Ortega Calls Rumors “Insane”
Though Johnny Depp has spoken only once on the matter, the 21-year-old actress is never tired of chiming in with the truth. She once addressed the rumors with fellow star, Richard E. Grant, who had inquired about the rumor during their time on the set of Death of a Unicorn. In response, she explained that she had nothing to do with Depp.
Again, for the third time, she reiterated her answer to BuzzFeed when she was asked about the craziest rumor she had ever heard about herself. The ‘Beetlejuice’ actress referred to rumors about dating Depp, saying, “I don’t know that person. It’s so insane to me. I never spoke on that. I never said anything like that. Articles really do just make up their own quotes, but I thought that that was pretty hilarious.”
While rumors of them dating are false, the stars have a few things in common. Apart from being actors, they have zero tolerance for false news. There’s more: both celebrities have worked with the same director, Tim Burton. Ortega has been featured in Burton’s Wednesday series on Netflix; more recently, she’ll appear in his upcoming Beetlejuice Beetlejuice film. Depp has worked with Burton on a long string of projects, from Edward Scissorhands to Ed Wood to Alice in Wonderland.
