Full frontal nudity is an experience most of us would not be comfortable with around, well, anyone. Let alone being filmed while nude. The horror movie, “The Substance” features Demi Moore fully nude in a scene with Margaret Qualley. Demi has opened up about not only the nudity but the violence in the film as well.

In “The Substance” Demi Moore plays Elizabeth Sparkle. She is a movie star who made a workout empire after her decline in the Hollywood movie scene. At the beginning of the movie, Elizabeth Sparkle is at risk of losing her fame from the workout empire which eventually leads her to return to a drug called, “The Substance” hence the title of the movie. She then clones a younger version of herself who is played by Margaret Qualley.

What Demi Moore Has to Say
At the Cannes Film Festival press conference, Demi spoke out about the nudity and violence. Co-stars Dennis Quaid, Margaret Qualley, and the film writer and director Coralie Fargeat were also in attendance. A reporter at the event asked Demi Moore if she was uncomfortable with the scene given the chances that still frames could end up online.
Demi responded with, “Going into it, it was spelled out — the level of vulnerability and rawness that was required to tell the story. It was a very vulnerable experience and just required a lot of sensitivity and a lot of conversation about what we were trying to accomplish,” props to you Demi!
She also mentioned the level of trust she had in her partner in the scene, which helped her feel more at ease. “I had someone who was a great partner who I felt very safe with. We obviously were quite close — naked — and we also got a lot of levity in those moments at how absurd those certain situations were. But ultimately. it’s just about really directing your communication and mutual trust.”
Shocker At Cannes
The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival as Demi Moore bared it all. The last time the actress was at the film festival was in 1997 with then-husband Bruce Willis for his film “The Fifth Element.” The couple divorced shortly after and Demi Moore went on to marry Ashton Kutcher which also ended in divorce.
The film’s premiere at the festival ended with a standing ovation for Demi Moore, an 11-minute standing ovation to be exact. Demi had never had a film premiere at Cannes or even appear in the competition. In response to the standing ovation at the press conference the next morning Demi Moore said, “I mean if you could wave a magic wand this is the best that we could have ever hoped for.”
