Netflix has released the newest Season 2 trailer for Castlevania Nocturne. More of the plot has been revealed, promising more gruesome gory action with a thrilling tale. This time, social media viewers and Castlevania fans learn more about Alucard. Plus an inside look at Richter’s newly-found powers and the dreaded Drolta.
Castlevania Nocturne Season 1 Recap
Castlevania Nocturne begins with Richter Belmont a descendant of Trevor Belmont and Sypha. In 1783 Boston, he lost his mother Julia to Olrox. Olrox tells Richter he killed his mother because he murdered his lover. He later grew up to become a vampire hunter with his adoptive family, Tera and Maria Renard in France. They encountered vampires and vanquished them with the power of the Belmont whip and magic. These monsters speak of the Vampire Messiah before meeting their deaths, leading to Maria wanting to tell the Abbot.
However, the Abbot reassures them to pay no mind. After noticing the rise of night creatures, Annette and Eduard requested assistance from him. They told him they were searching for the Vampire Messiah, wanting to stop it before hysteria is let loose. When they mention her name, Erzsebet Bathory, Tera becomes distressed. She was forced to murder her sister when Bethory converted her into a vampire.
Soon, Richter, Annette, and Eduard learn that the Abbot is under control by Bathory’s right-hand woman, Drolta. Richter flees from the battle when he sees Olrox appears, taking temporary shelter at a bar. There he meets his grandfather Juste Belmont who agrees to join his quest to search for the Vampire Messiah.
In Richter’s last battles, he fights alongside Annette, Juste, Eduardo, Maria and Tera. From there, he successfully freed the Caribbean from the vampires. Yet, his strength and the Belmonts’ vampire-slaying equipment did not affect Drolta and Bathory during a solar eclipse. Maria and Richter then lost Tera from Bathory’s bite and became a vampire. Suddenly, Alucard swooped in to rescue them from Drolta, forcing her to retreat and fight another day.
What Season 2 Has in Store
Castlevania Nocturne Season 2 has revealed more of the story in its latest trailer. Alucard will be playing a new role to support and help train Richter and Annette. He does comment on how the Belmont descendant reminds him of Trevor. He is also shown to be one of the commanders of the French Revolution. Fans across social media hope Alucard will answer what happened to Trevor and Sypha after the original series.
Meanwhile, Maria is shown to gain the ability to summon a dragon. She could be studying dark magic in this season to defend herself. It does make sense in case Richter is unable to protect her while traveling. It’s possible that Maria could become a foe for the beast is sent out to crush infected soldiers with no mercy.
Probably the coolest scenes we get out of this trailer is the rematch of Richter and Drolta. We get a glimpse of Richter developing radiant magic. He uses less of his whip and more of his fists. The man is unphased when he catches a swinging blade with his bare hand. Drolta has also grown to become more monstrous than before. Her tendril hair has become Medusa-like and she has built a ravenous appetite as she feasts on soldiers in the forefront.
Castlevania Nocturne’s Remaining Mystery
Right now, the only mystery that remains from the trailer is Juste Belmont and a blonde vampire. As Annette speaks about loss, the blonde vampire appears in the graveyard. She quickly teleports to bite. Then midway in the trailer, Juste is standing in the same graveyard paying respects to possibly a past Belmont.
These two later battle at night as if one is after something. While we do not know what it could be, Juste and the blonde vampire could be either relatives or past lovers. We hope to learn more when Castlevania Nocturne Season 2 premieres on January 16th, 2025.
