A new film coming this year in 2025, Captain America: Brave New World, had a recent collaboration project with Marvel Studios Japan. They had a Japanese promotion, not just featuring a trailer of the film but also with a new shield design and usage. The promotion video can be found on YouTube, and many other articles have already made a post about the promotion video as well. Along with the promotional clip, there are many trailers and clips found online that show how exciting the story and action of the movie will be. This will include not just politics but aerial battles, explosions over water, and even fist fights in a meeting room of the White House.
Captain America: Brave New World
The new Marvel film focuses on Sam Wilson, previously known as Falcon and played by Anthony Mackie, as the next to take on the mantle of Captain America. The new mission, while not specifically stated in the trailer, is an international issue, and Wilson has to figure out the whole picture regarding the global problem. Along with this is the situation of Thaddeus Ross trying to make the title of Captain America an official military position whilst dealing with an election. So far, the official trailer has shown that this film will be a grounded story.
Several trailers, teasers, edited clips, a special look, and the Japanese promotion clip were made for Captain America: Brave New World’s marketing. Marvel Entertainment posted the official teaser five months ago and the official trailer one month ago, while the Japanese promotion video can only be found on Twitter. The expected characters to work alongside, or possibly against, Captain America are Thaddeus Ross as Red Hulk, Diamondback, and Falcon, stepping in as the new Falcon.
The Film’s Japanese Promotion
Anthony Mackie helped to market Captain America: Brave New World in Japan, and from the looks of the clip, he had a fun time. The only issue is that the Japanese promotion video for Captain America: Brave New World has not been officially posted on Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube channel. For now, the short clip can only be found on Marvel Studios Japan’s Twitter page, @MarvelStudios_J. The reason for this is that it was made by a different studio, and likely not long enough to be considered for a YouTube video.
New Shield Featured
The clip is fifty-five seconds long and features Anthony Mackie with a lighthearted version of the Captain America Shield. No visible or physical changes were made to it, as the new feature was how it was being used. Instead of using it for fighting or any similar action, there was first a clip showing water or tea being poured into a flat saucer cup that is the same shape as Captain America’s upside-down shield. Following this scene is the next clip of Anthony Mackie holding up an actual Captain America shield, upside down and filled with water.
He proceeds to smile as he jokingly drinks from it like it was a comically large cup that he was carefully trying not to spill even though he was tilting it to his face. What follows after this is the next scene, Anthony Mackie promoting the Captain America: Brave New World trailer edited with Japanese captions. The short video then shows clips from the official trailer and more scenes not found in the official or original ones. There were no changes to the design of the shield, merely its function. Ten seconds later, viewers can see that the shield design is the same as the one in the movie.
Anthony Mackie
It is thanks to Anthony Mackie that Captain America: Brave New World was able to get so much publicity and good marketing. He had multiple discussions about Sam Wilson, the new Captain America suit, and how the new film was like an action-filled espionage. Mackie has even shared behind-the-scenes images and is rumored to have dropped a major spoiler in a recent interview. This potential spoiler is speculated to be about the number of Hulks and a potential crossover between Marvel and another popular movie franchise.
Mackie has discussed more information about Captain America: Brave New World at 2024’s Comic Convention alongside fellow cast members Harrison Ford and Giancarlo Esposito. A quick search on YouTube will allow fans to find a clip of this event and more interviews he had regarding the movie. Now, thanks to all the positive comments and discussions he made, along with how well the cast members seem to get along at each interview, many fans are hopeful. Many hope that the movie will be as good as the trailers they’ve seen, and others are looking forward to seeing the film in theaters because of the actors in it.
Microsoft
Mackie and Marvel weren’t the only ones to put in such great effort for the film’s advertisement, and Japan wasn’t the only one to collaborate on a promotional video with him. Microsoft also did a collaboration project with him, having uploaded a video on YouTube a month ago revolving around Captain America’s ‘Wingman’ for the movie. That same video also allowed Microsoft to show off some of their products to Marvel Fans. Needless to say, Captain America: Brave New World has already gotten lots of publicity, even though it’ll be about a month before it’s out.
Final Thoughts
All of the comments on the trailers, teasers, and other clips uploaded online have been positive, with more positive feedback being given to the actors. Fans have already made jokes about how, while the character, Sam Wilson, isn’t Steve Rogers, Thaddeus Ross isn’t Bruce Banner. This means they are not only fine with the new sets of characters taking up the mantles of past heroes but that the editing team did well with the film’s clips. Captain America: Brave New World will be released in theaters on February 14th, 2025, and while it will not be available for streaming, others may find it available on Disney+.
