Marvel Launches Godzilla: Infinity Roar by Steve Gerry, Javier Garrón and Ig Guara
Throughout the years, we’ve seen countless mind-boggling stories brought to us by Marvel Comics. They mostly feature the superheroes and villains created by the company since the beginning. However, some tales star individuals from other renowned brands and franchises. And an upcoming set of books showcases the King of Monsters himself.
Godzilla has, surprisingly, terrorized Marvel’s characters before in various installments throughout the years. And this newest one presents him as a threat capable of devastating all. Care to find out what exactly this newest Marvel comic entails?
Godzilla Throughout Marvel Comics
Godzilla first appeared on the big screen in the 1950s flick by Toho. Since then, he has had countless adventures ranging from terrorizing Japan to protecting Earth. The world-famous kaiju typically appears in movies, though he often shows up in other media. He has starred in various shows, video games, and literary pieces like novels and manga. And, of course, he often comes out in comic books, especially those published by Marvel.
The first Godzilla Marvel comic series, titled Godzilla, ran from 1977 to 1979. Consisting of 24 issues, it featured the kaiju roaming across America and encountering various characters. It was also a standalone entry, just like the following collection, Godzilla vs Marvel. The next set, Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe, served more as a successor, though. And this new and upcoming series of comics will follow that trend.
The King Causes Some Chaos
At this year’s New York Comic Con, Marvel announced Godzilla: Infinity Roar #1. This newly announced comic takes place after the events of Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe. Earth’s mightiest heroes save Earth by expelling the kaiju into the cosmos. The downside is that Knull, the God of Symbiotes, finds him and fans his anger. And now, the two kings are working to conquer the galaxy, and no one’s safe.
The creative team behind Infinity Roar #1 includes Gerry Duggan as the writer. And drawing it is Javier Garrón and Ig Guara, with Ken Lashley handling the cover. Additionally, Josemaria Casanovas and David Marquez created variant covers, which debuted at the convention.
Duggan promises that this new crossover series will be the craziest yet. And it’ll be thanks to all the exciting ideas that the team created. The only downside is that the world won’t witness them until sometime next year.
Final Thoughts
This new Godzilla crossover comic book and series from Marvel sounds intriguing. The idea of the God of Symbiotes ‘corrupting’ the King of Monsters gives me goosebumps. I’d hate to imagine what Godzilla would be like when paired with a symbiote. The only thing I know is that such a bond will lead to mass destruction. So, his working with Knull would be ten times worse.
I can only wonder who’d be brave enough to confront the Knull-guided Godzilla. My guesses are the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Nova Corps, and the Silver Surfer. Of course, we might also get the Avengers, should they want to finish the fight. Maybe villains like Thanos and Galactus will step in to try taking on the kaiju. We won’t know for sure until this Marvel crossover comic hits shelves, likely early 2026.
