The Rookie is a seven-season show on Hulu. It was greenlit for an eighth season, too, which is exciting. It’s a show based on the true story of a middle-aged man becoming a cop. There’s drama, angst, and funny light-heartedness between the characters; it’s great. There are also plenty of relationships throughout the series, more than most people can keep up with.
So, that brings up the question. What’s the best relationship of the series? Out of the popular ones, of course. It would take way too long to list and rank every single relationship that’s ever been in the rookie. But this is what we are going to talk about in this article.
1. ChenFord (Tim Bradford x Lucy Chen)
It’s a classic ship, it’s a fan favorite, it’s great. The rookie did a great job portraying it in the earlier seasons. Now, it’s a bit more complicated, it just feels like they’re almost being forced together after their breakup. It doesn’t feel as natural as it did before. Regardless, they’re still a cute couple and are greatly appreciated by the fans.
2. Wopez (Angela Lopez x Wesley Evers)
This ship has been around for ages, since about season two or so of The Rookie. The way it was introduced was hilarious as well. From the banter to how the dynamic was set up and shifted over and over. Wopez is a cute ship; it isn’t on Chenford levels by any means, but it’s cute, sweet, and likable.
3. Harmur (Nyla Harper x James Murray)
They’re not a popular ship by any means. The way they both treat each other and their careers sucks. However, they’re still alright and they stick together when it counts. The amount of drama they’ve been through throughout the series.
4. Bailan (John Nolan x Bailey Nuun)
They aren’t too popular at all. The way they got together feels a little weird, and the stuff Bailey’s done that should’ve gotten her arrested but didn’t is higher than it should be, considering her husband’s a cop. They were cute in the earlier seasons, but now it just doesn’t hit the same as it used to.
5. Lucan (Lucy Chen x John Nolan)
They were only a couple for the first few episodes of the rookie. Yet, they are one of the most hated ships aside from Bailan. Which is understandable, they’re much better as friends than lovers, and shouldn’t have gotten together anyway. Lucy was kind of a rebound anyway, after Nolan’s divorce.
