The best mobile games of 2026 so far cover a wide range of genres, from roguelike deckbuilders to cozy sims and premium ports of PC classics. With 2026 heading into its final months, a clearer picture has emerged of which iPhone and Android releases are worth a download, based on critic reviews and player reception tracked throughout the year.
This ranking draws on Pocket Gamer’s ongoing 2026 review roundup, Polygon‘s hands-on coverage of a major new mobile port and Android Authority’s rundown of premium Android titles worth paying for. It will keep getting updated as more notable games launch before the year ends.
How We Ranked The Best Mobile Games Of 2026
Games on this list earned their spot through critic scores, specifically Pocket Gamer’s 10/10 Platinum Award reviews, plus standout coverage from outlets like Polygon and Android Authority that highlighted a title’s mobile-specific strengths. Platform availability and release timing in 2026 also factored into placement.
1. Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard (2026, Mobile)
Vampire Crawlers launched on PC earlier in the year before arriving on mobile, and Polygon critic Giovanni Colantonio called it one of the best games of the year despite a months-long stretch of other strong releases that followed its April debut. The deckbuilding roguelike rewards players who learn to manipulate card costs, including pushing some into negative territory to extend combo runs into the double digits.
Developer Poncle worked with Nosebleed Interactive on the mobile version. Verde, speaking to Polygon, said the studio had not anticipated the demand for a phone release. “We hadn’t realized how much players would want a mobile version,” Verde said.
“We thought all of the people would be playing on PC, console, or maybe on Steam Deck.” Verde added the team is now keeping mobile more in mind going forward, even if it has not yet changed broader strategy.
2. Gumslinger 2: Ducks & Nukes (Feb. 3, 2026, Mobile)
Gumslinger 2: Ducks & Nukes earned a 10/10 Platinum Award from Pocket Gamer, one of only five games to reach that score in the outlet’s 2026 roundup. It released early in the year and has held its place among the site’s top-rated mobile titles through the fall.
3. Meg’s Monster (May 16, 2026, Mobile)
Meg’s Monster also landed a 10/10 Platinum Award from Pocket Gamer, placing it among the handful of perfect-score releases the outlet has reviewed in 2026. Its May launch came during a particularly strong stretch for mobile releases that year.
4. Shelter From The Storm (July 23, 2026, Mobile)
Shelter from the Storm rounded out the summer with another 10/10 Platinum Award from Pocket Gamer. Its late-July release kept the list of top-scoring 2026 mobile games growing well past the first half of the year.
5. Tomb Raider (Feb. 28, 2026, Mobile)
The mobile version of Tomb Raider received a 10/10 Platinum Award from Pocket Gamer, one of five titles in the outlet’s 2026 coverage to hit the top tier. Its February release made it one of the earliest standout games of the year.
6. Wish Upon A Cat (July 27, 2026, Mobile)
Wish Upon a Cat closed out July with a Pocket Gamer 10/10 Platinum Award, matching the perfect scores given to Gumslinger 2, Meg’s Monster, Shelter from the Storm and Tomb Raider. It is the most recent of the five 2026 releases to earn Pocket Gamer’s top rating as of the outlet’s latest update.
7. Minecraft (Android, Bedrock Edition)
Android Authority highlighted Minecraft’s Bedrock Edition on Android as a premium pick worth its $7 price tag, noting that the console version retails for around $20. The outlet said the mobile version lacks shader support and preloads less of the world at once, but supports controllers alongside touch controls, making it a solid value for families or kids trying the game for the first time.
8. Stardew Valley (Android)
Stardew Valley on Android costs $4.99, roughly $10 less than its Steam retail price, according to Android Authority. The outlet noted the Android version lacks official mod support and has a less stable multiplayer scene than PC, with online play hidden by default and unlockable through the Konami code. Despite those tradeoffs, Android Authority called it a low-risk way to test whether the game is a good fit before buying other versions.
What’s Next For 2026’s Mobile Lineup
Pocket Gamer said it updates its best mobile games list weekly as new reviews publish, meaning additional 2026 releases could join the Platinum Award tier before the year ends.
