Hiking lovers, are you looking for more exciting destinations for your next adventure? We’ve done some research and have 5 great locations to experience and explore. Read on!

History for Hiking Lovers

Hiking trails can be so much more than just walking through nature. There are ancient places you can explore too. Hiking lovers who are also history buffs may enjoy a visit to Hadrian’s Wall. The 84-mile (135 km) path follows the UNESCO World  Heritage Site, Hadrian’s Wall. It begins at Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, and ends at Bowness-on-Solway, Cumbria.

Along the way, hikers will enjoy the beautiful hills and borderlands of England, the cities of Newcastle and Carlisle, and many museums. Be warned that the trail can be more difficult in wet weather, so May to October is best for this trip. And, it’s most popular from July to August.

Take a Spiritual Walk

Japan’s Kumano Kodo is a network of trails that are over 1,000 years old and have been traversed by people of all types, from royalty to peasantry. They wind over the Kii Peninsula and offer a unique view into the cultural history and natural beauty of the region. The ancient routes were used as part of pilgrimages where travelers completed religious rites as they went. The area is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hiking lovers can choose one of four routes for their journey. And, you can choose to hire a local guide who knows the land and can share their love for it with you.

An Island to Explore

Mallorca is a Spanish island, one of the Balearic Islands. It’s known for its beautiful sunny climate and beaches. But, it is also a wonderful place for hiking lovers. With numerous trails and routes available, visitors have a variety of options for daily exploration. This includes national parks and even a couple of city walks!

Remote and Untouched

For experienced hiking lovers looking for beautiful remote wilderness in a new location, look to Innlandet, Norway. The landlocked county has several national parks to explore. In the Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park, you can even witness the wild musk oxen as well as keep watch for reindeer, eagles, and Arctic foxes.

Innlandet is also home to historical archaeological discoveries from the ancient days of Norse settlements. The city of Lillehammer also offers cultural experiences via its museums.

Bushwalking!

Finally, we present to you Australia’s Northern Territory. It is highly recommended that you hire an Aboriginal guide before taking on Australia. The area offers day walks as well as more ambitious adventures like the 223 km (138.57 miles) Larapinta Trail, which is world-famous and goes through the MacDonnell Ranges.

Get Your Gear Ready!

If none of these locations piques your interest, there are many other adventure spots out there in the world, including close to home! Wherever your adventures take you, make sure you have the best hiking boots you can manage, some good socks (and spares), and check your safety equipment. Each location may have unique challenges. Research before you go.

Safe journeys, Friends! We’ll see you on the trails.
