Vampire characters are normally depicted as cold and stoic, this vampire dances when he’s alone and blushes after drinking.

BanBanBan Vampire is a shonen manga series, created by Hiromasa Okujima, and it is currently ongoing. The series revolves around a vampire named Ranmaru Mori, pretending to be a human and working part-time at a bathhouse that has been around for a long time. The reason he is working at the bathhouse is that he has been playing the waiting game. Eagerly wanting to taste the blood of the son of the bathhouse owner, Rihito Tatsuno.
The qualifications Ranmaru is striving for is specifically an eighteen-year-old, virgin boy. Hence why he has been waiting and keeping an eye on the son, who is still only fifteen years old. Protecting the boy’s virginity so far has not been an issue for him until Rihito Tatsuno entered puberty, and trouble arises when the boy hits puberty and falls in love at first sight with a girl. Our 400-century-year-old vampire is worried he will lose his virginity.
To fulfill his desire to drink the blood of an eighteen-year-old virgin, he begins doing all he can to prevent the two from getting closer. Thus, the plot of BanBanBan Vampire, and how the elements of horror and romantic comedy take place. The trailer has many misleading scenes, but the fans who have read the manga will know it is a comedy with more supernatural than horror. Ranmaru Mori himself is also more of an anxious, silly character terrible at hiding his secret, than a serious one.
Anime Adaptation Release Date
Crunchyroll has released an announcement and trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation of BanBanBan Vampire. The TV anime will begin broadcasting in Japan in January of 2025, and more news on when it will be released in the US when the new year sets in. The trailer is out both on Crunchyroll’s official website and on a few YouTube channels that posted the teasers of the anime.
Live Action Adaptation
Along with the anime adaptation, a live-action film adaptation as well. Two article posts about the live-action adaptation can be found on Crunchyroll’s news page. The official Twitter account for BanBanBan Vampire has also made an announcement of this, although only in Japanese for now. The live-action is expected to air in Japan on February 14th, 2025. The BanBanBan Vampire manga series has gotten many reads and views, so it wouldn’t be too far off for there to be two different adaptations of the series as a way to bring it to life.
