The 8th house is here, and it’s the spiciest house you’ll meet. Out of all 12 houses, the 8th is one of the more adult-themed ones. The occult, death, life, transformations, the adult hoky-poky, legacy, and inheritances. A little bit of everything in one house. All the most taboo topics live under one roof, creating an energy of general mystique.
What draws so many people into the 8th house is that it covers so many things we’re afraid of, don’t understand, and may prefer to leave in the dark. It’s the things we want to know the very most but are often not prepared to take in. The mysteries of life are all in one place.
All Things 8th House
It wouldn’t come as a surprise to most astrology buffs that the 8th house is ruled by Scorpio. Out of all the signs, Scorpios have the highest affinity for passion, cults, and a natural curiosity and intensity that allows individuals born between October 24th and November 21st to connect with the themes of the house they rule.
Planetarily speaking, Mars and Pluto rule House #8. Pluto is the planet of power and rebirth. Mars is the planet of passion and war and is actually a lower vibration of Pluto. Talk about intense planets for a similarly extraordinary house.
If the 8th house had to be summarized in one word, it would be transitions. There are transitions into life when you are born, transitions out of life when you die, and more abstract transitions like going from child to adult or person to parent.

Right behind transition would be intimacy. Of course, physical intimacy is a key part of this house, but it goes beyond that. While you’re being tied to your ceiling fan with rope (I see you, Scorpios), you’re also finding emotional connection with your partner.
Intimacy within the family also has its place in the house with concepts like legacy, inheritance, and what you pass on to others, fiscally and otherwise. Which is a very transformative experience for the people on the receiving end.
This profound intimacy can also be turned inward toward oneself. Truly understanding who you are and the depth of your emotions, especially the dark and deep ones.
Lastly, I would also choose spirituality. The occult lives in the 8th house as well. The room is further in the dark, in the back, but it’s there. An interest in and connection to the spirit world and realms beyond what we can see dwells in the shadows.
House #8 is in My Birth Chart. What Does That Mean?
If you’re not sure which houses are in your birth chart, read more about them here to find out. While you’re at it, read more articles written by yours truly here.
If you find that you have house #8 in your birth chart, that’s great! Keep in mind that that could mean very different things depending on whether it’s your sun, moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto that’s in the house.
For example, if your moon is in this specific house, you’re likely very sensitive and emotionally intense (we Cancers can understand that feeling well). If Neptune is in the 8th house, you might have psychic capabilities, and if Mercury is there, you’re great at persuading and speaking with power.
These are all beautiful things. You will just need to surround yourself with people who understand your depth of connection, intense emotional life, and desire to always discover more in life. Your people are out there. You just have to find them. If you find out that the meaning of life is something other than 42, please report back and let us all know!
