What to Know Before Buying This Week’s Releases

A steelbook is a metal-cased edition of a disc release, and limited reprints like the Studio Ghibli set can sell out at retailers once the initial stock is gone. Fans who want a specific film should consider preordering or checking several stores, since availability often varies by retailer.

The same advice applies to the weekly stream of anime and manga releases from publishers such as Seven Seas, Yen Press and J-Novel Club. Hardcover and paperback editions of the same first volume often carry different prices, so compare formats before ordering. Publishers also sometimes shift ship dates, so confirm the date with a retailer before planning around any single title.

Release dates and prices can change, so check with retailers for current availability.
