Tower of God Reveals Season 2 Cast Members

Originally an incredible webcomic on Webtoons, the Tower of God started as a Korean manga, or manwha for a more specific term. Due to the webcomic’s large popularity, the Korean webcomic was soon given an anime adaptation. Season one of the Tower of God anime covered most of part one of the webcomic, into thirteen anime episodes. The season one anime adaptation stayed mostly faithful to the webcomic, so season two is expected to do the same. However, that isn’t likely, as there were many changes, not just in pacing and removal of scenes, but with new additions.

Tower of God

Tower of God can be categorized as a manga series, but most fans may prefer to consider calling it a manwha, a term used for webcomics, or comics created by Korean illustrators. This comic began on Webtoon, a platform for reading digital comics, and it currently has 635 episodes. Tower of God‘s summary is unlike other stories, where it begins by asking the viewer what they could want and implying that whatever they desire is in the comic. This is a clever way of hinting how whoever manages to get to the top of the tower gets to have all of this, but not without the huge risk of death.

The plot focuses on a boy named Bam trapped on the underground floor beneath the Tower of God. When his friend Rachel was sick of all the darkness and went up the tower, he followed her and entered the gates to the first floor of the tower. He soon learns that to ascend to the next floor; he has to pass a test decided by the rulers of each floor. The difficulty of each test varies depending on the floor administrators, and Bam doesn’t care about reaching the top of the tower. However, he cares about Rachel and endures each battle to reach her.

Season 2 New Cast Members

After Tower of God season one ended, fans waited four years until season two was produced on July 7th, 2024. Season two has seventeen episodes out on Crunchyroll, with some new characters appearing in episodes six and seventeen. The five new characters in episode six are Urek Mazino, Hwa Ryun, Ha Jinsung, Han Sung Yo, and Noma.

Then there were the four new characters in episode seventeen, the second part of the Tower of God anime adaptation. Ron Mei, the woman with wings, next is Beta, the kid with bandages over his eyes, then Punk, who wears a suit and mask, and an older gentleman named Madoraco. They were introduced along with the second part of season two, which premiered on October 6th, 2024. The second part was titled Tower of God: Workshop Battle, referring to the arc in season two of the Tower of God’s webcomic.

Seasons 1 & 2 Review

Most fans have long recognized that the anime has made some changes, aside from the new cast members. The first season of the Tower of God anime adaptation stayed mostly faithful to the webcomic. Unfortunately, by trying to shove seventy-eight chapters into thirteen episodes, some scenes were removed. They focused less on character relationships and more on subjects relating to the tower, removing many scenes. The main issue most fans had with season one, besides all these, was the final episode that cut out Bam’s reason for joining FUG.

Considering how much of a major plot point that scene was and how it wasn’t included in the anime, fans hoped that season two would fix it. The expectations were either that season two show Bam’s personality switch after the fall or a flashback scene explaining why he joined FUG. Neither theory happened, Bam was given a new identity as Viole, and there was never a flashback to the major event. The episodes so far have altered between Viole’s journey and Khun’s battles to get to the top of the tower.

Conclusion

The remaining episodes for the second part of season two haven’t come out yet, nor is there any other news besides the new cast members and the voice actors for them. Aside from a few changes, Tower of God‘s anime adaptation still faithfully follows the plot of the webcomic, even though the pacing is different, and many scenes were cut. The Tower of God webcomic is still ongoing, and many fans still wish to give the anime adaptation a chance by continuing to wait for the remaining episodes of season two as it moves on to new cast members.
