During his retirement, Sakamoto’s hair stopped growing, gained weight, and lost his intimidating appearance. That doesn’t stop the person from his past from coming back to haunt him with a proposal. Sakamoto must either go back to the life of an Assassin or die.
The man named Sakamoto Taro was first introduced in the manga series as young and still in his prime. He is a legendary, powerful hitman who made a name for himself with his strength and prowess. Sakamoto can take on multiple opponents solo, surviving the aftermath. He is similarly depicted as John Wick, so what made him quit the field? He fell in love with a woman and left behind his dangerous life to live a happy, peaceful life with her.
The trailer shows while he no longer looks as cool as he was in his prime, he is still fairly dangerous. Despite his weight, age, and complacency, Sakamoto is still capable of executing his targets. Even though he has a family, he is not hindered by them, and will offer him support.
Creator of Sakamoto Days
Sakamoto Days was originally a manga series created by Yuuto Suzuki. It can be found with fifteen volumes available to pre-order and read in multiple languages depending on the site you’re using. The manga artist had created other one-shot works on Shonen Jump before creating Sakamoto Days, which was introduced as a prototype in Jump GIGA in December 2019. Its serialization began on Weekly Shonen Jump in November 2020.
Release Date
The release date is set for January 2025. Anything more specific than that is so far unknown, for not even Netflix has all the answers. The reason for that is due to the Sakamoto Days anime adaptation still being in early production. What is already set and announced, however, is that the premiere of Sakamoto Days will air globally on Netflix.
