Top 3 Scariest Creatures in Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls is an American cartoon series made by Disney, although sometimes that part is hard to remember. The reason is that the show doesn’t seem like the type of cartoon Disney would air, with the theme of monsters of unimaginable horror. Gravity Falls is a children’s horror cartoon with a great plot, character writing and development, and scary creatures. The number of creatures in this show is massive, with the list going from A to Z, making it difficult to choose which is the scariest.

Scariest Honorable Mentions

Almost every episode has a new odd or returning creature from a past episode. They are typically used as devices to move the plot of each episode along, or to help the characters develop into better people. With that being said, the competition pool was a large and difficult list of monsters in Gravity Falls to choose from. Here is the list of thehonorable mentions. While they weren’t as scary as the top 3, they also added nightmare fuel to the Gravity Falls show.

The Gremloblin

From season one, in the Boss Mabel episode. The Gremloblin wasn’t the main focus of the episode, but it did play a great part in the destruction of the Mystery Shack after being let out of its cage. Besides its brute strength and horns, looking into eyes will cause anyone to see their worst nightmare. This includes the Gremloblin itself once it looks into its reflection. Throwing water at the creature makes it grow horns and become more aggressive.

The Undead

These are from the season two episode, Scary-oke. The idea of the zombie apocalypse should make anyone feel scared. Dipper summoned the Undead to prove to a pair of FBI agents that strange creatures were in Gravity Falls. He quickly regretted it after a horde appeared from the ground below. Zombies are slow but they will never stop moving and will eat whatever flesh and brains they can find.

Ghosts

The best example Gravity Falls has showing how scary ghosts can be is through their characters, Ma and Pa Duskerton. In the episode “The Inconveniencing,” they were once owners of a convenience store in the past. They made it their afterlife mission to torment any teenagers who entered and disturbed their abandoned store. From transferring a girl into a screen to get trapped, to warping reality, the ghosts could do a lot. The couple only chose to pass on thanks to Dipper.

Top 3 Scariest Creatures

Gravity Falls has a list of monsters to choose from. The honorable mentions were only a small sample of the other scary elements of Gravity Falls. There are other horrors, creatures, and entities for those who wish to explore more. Down below are now the top 3 scariest creatures in the entire show.

3. GIFfany

Stalkers, realistically, are already scary, now imagine one that can follow you through powerlines. When Soos buys and plays a seemingly innocent game high school dating sim, the main crush GIFfany turns out to be sentient. She’s the traditional Yandere character who gets easily jealous of Soos looking at any human being and demands all his attention.

Because she’s virtual, she can travel through powerlines to him and the Pines family, haunting them through screens. The only way to defeat her is to destroy her game disc, but even then, it’s hinted that she survived when she occurs again in an arcade. Gravity Falls leaves a lot of Easter eggs in their show, leading to fans creating all sorts of fan theories. This is just another reason why it’s a great show.

2. Clay Monsters

Appearing in the season 2 episode titled “Little Gift Shop of Horrors”, these monsters are as the name suggests, made of clay. What made them so scary in the Gravity Falls show is that these Clay Monsters were real 3D clay figures animated into the show. They could mold into whatever shapes they desired and easily defeated everything else that attacked them, even each other. The only way to defeat the clay monsters was to mold one into an ally before they buried the characters alive in clay.

1. The Shapeshifter

The Shapeshifter is a creature born from an egg in the underground lab in a bunker, once belonging to Stanford Pines and McGucket. It can shape-shift into whoever and whatever it sees. This ranges from living beings to mere photos of figures. An entire episode was dedicated to showing exactly why it was locked up and kept underground. An example of how trauma-inducing the creature can be is when it dies from being frozen alive. The Shapeshifter turned into Dipper, giving Dipper the image of himself freezing to death.

Conclusion

Gravity Falls has an assortment of other scary monsters to choose from if these choices aren’t to your satisfaction. It ranges from monster parodies to human characters that are plain disturbing for both scariness and the sake of comedy. There are aliens, evil artificial intelligence, and even depictions of real creatures, such as dinosaurs. Not only does Gravity Falls work to give us scary thoughts of made-up creatures, but the show has dedicated episodes that make us feel wary of what already exists in our world.
