While it might be a few years out, the end for Demon Slayer is in sight, as it concludes the Hashira Training Arc with episode eight released on Sunday, June 30th. The last two episodes in its eight-episode season were extended, like the opening episode of this past season.
With the ending of its fourth season came the announcement of their plans with the beloved anime, as it will finish off the saga with a trilogy of movies. Harua Sotozaki will direct these films from Ufotable, the highly renowned anime studio.
It has been a long time coming, as it is licensed by Aniplex and has had 63 total episodes over the past half-decade. It debuted its first season in 2019, and it’s made history ever since.
How did Demon Slayer conclude its most recent season with episode eight, which is a highly anticipated finale?
Demon Slayer Season 4 Episode 8- “The Hashira Unite”
Muzan Kitbutsuji’s endless conquest in finding Nezuko Kamado to then conquer the sun leads him to the resting place of the demon slayer’s lair. There resides a long-distance relative, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, as they have an insightful chat about their backstories and how they are linked in a way but totally on opposite ends of the spectrum with their end desires.
The weight and score of their slow but intense conversation deliver and stem from Muzan’s entrance at the end of the last episode. The tenseness of something happening in a split second never lets up till the big explosion. While it ended poorly with the Ubuyashikis, Kagaya did plan for this and wanted to use himself as the bait to weaken the Demon King as much as possible.
Hashira Training Arc Ends with a Brutal Finale
The ending of the seventh episode of Demon Slayer’s fourth season with the backstory reveal for the Stone Hashira, Gyomei Himejima, pays off in the back of this extended hour-long episode. We see Gyomei at the front of the Hashira group attack, leading the charge on a weakened Muzan, or so they think, as he has other plans up his sleeve, we soon find out.
Kagaya believed in Gyomei, even with his accusation as a killer when he was a teen, despite a demon slaughtering most of the orphans. With foresight, Kagaya knew the truth and trusted him only with this plan that he thought had to be executed without the others, even his family and Hashira, knowing. However, this was a calculated risk that cost the Ubuyashikis.
All the Hashira gathering to protect the Ubuyashikis was a great scene, as we see that Kagaya was against bodyguards like Hashira due to their importance in the training arc for the other demon slayers. However, Kagaya’s plan to trap Muzan in the explosion to weaken his regeneration with Blood Demon Art from Tamayo was not ultimately enough.
Trilogy of Movies Announced for Infinity Castle Arc
Crunchyroll announces that the next chapter of Demon Slayer with its next Manga arc, Infinity Castle, will be released worldwide in a trilogy of movies. As it did with the Infinity Train Arc back in 2020, it will likely explode as a blockbuster on the big screen with its conclusion. It will be distributed by Crunchyroll, who acquired the rights, and Sony Pictures Entertainment globally.
It was revealed that it will be the final arc and wrap up one of the most successful, award-winning shonen anime ever. The set of movie dates has not been released, as it will take some time for those to get announced. The widely popular action anime had its fourth season airing during the Spring season, but excluding the recent season, the rest is out on Netflix.
