Andor Season 2 has been beloved by audiences and critics. The Star Wars Disney+ spinoff chronicles the days of the Rebellion before they stole the Death Star plans and has been praised for its dark, gritty storytelling. Now, it has broken an IMDB record, becoming the first show in history to have five consecutive episodes with a score of 9.5 or more.
Andor Season 2 Hype
Ever since the first Season 2 trailer dropped, fans were excited for Andor Season 2. Even though the Star Wars fanbase is notoriously hard to please, Andor managed to satisfy audiences through its strong storytelling and memorable characters. Its second and final season has exceeded expectations. Season 2 of Andor is currently the first show in history to have five consecutive episodes with an IMDB user score of 9.5 or higher. The episode that currently has the highest score is “Who Are You?” which has a 9.8 score.
How Will Andor’s Success Affect Future Star Wars Shows?
Many Star Wars shows like Ahsoka and The Acolyte have received mixed reception. The Acolyte even had its planned second season cancelled. However, the success of Andor may revive the fanbase’s interest in Star Wars shows. With Season 2 of Ahsoka and Maul: Shadow Lord on the way, fans might have renewed anticipation. Disney might also release more Star Wars shows that copy Andor’s gritty storytelling style. Of course, this could be a double-edged sword, since Disney tends to repeat what is successful until the audience gets tired of it. Maybe audiences will experience fatigue and then start demanding more lighthearted shows.
Will There Be an Andor Season 3?
Unfortunately, no. Andor Season 2 is the conclusion of the show. However, you can rewatch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to see Cassian Andor’s introduction to the world and (SPOILER) his demise. Of course, now that audiences have gotten to know Cassian better, it might be harder to watch him die. Perhaps some of the other members of the Rogue One crew will get their own spinoffs as well. With how large the galaxy far, far away is and how vast the story is, there are endless possibilities.
