Andor Season 2 on Disney+: A Fresh New Take on Star Wars Begins Now

Andor Season 2

The first episode of Andor Season 2 premieres on Disney+ today. While many Disney+ Star Wars shows have received mixed reception from both critics and audiences, Andor has been almost universally praised. Now the show returns for its second, and final, season, and it has to live up to high expectations. What could possibly await us in Andor Season 2?

Andor‘s Legacy

While Cassian Andor was (SPOILER) killed off in his debut movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Storythe series builds on his character, showing his life leading up to how he joined the Rebellion. He begins as a mercenary and outlaw who originally became involved in the Rebellion out of necessity, but then we see his process of growing to believe in the Rebellion’s cause. The show portrays the darkness of the Empire’s reign over the galaxy and like Rogue One, it doesn’t hesitate to display how sacrifice is necessary when fighting a seemingly-unstoppable foe.

Andor Season 2

The trailer for Andor Season 2 looks like it will continue the show’s gritty storytelling. We see glimpses of Saw Gurerra and Mon Mothma, who both received further development in the series after their relatively small roles in the movies. We also got glimpses of Orson Krennic and K-2SO from Rogue One. Perhaps most notably, a rock song with lyrics plays over the trailer, which is extremely unusual for a Star Wars trailer. The use of a rock song seems to promise that Season 2 will be different from usual Star Wars offerings.

Will We See Darth Vader?

It has been rumored that Darth Vader may appear in Andor Season 2. While the voice of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones, died last year, he did give permission to recreate his voice with AI for future projects. Vader’s appearance in Rogue One was one of the highlights of the film, so no one can blame fans for wanting to see more of him. Jones’s voice was already recreated in AI for the Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries, which received mixed reception from fans. If Andor used AI for Vader’s voice again, it would probably get a similar reception.

Conclusion

Season 2 of Andor promises to be full of the memorable action scenes and strong storytelling that made the first season a hit. Will it deliver on those promises? That remains to be seen, but fans will definitely be streaming the second season with anticipation. Here’s hoping that the show will come to a spectacular conclusion.
