America’s Got Talent 20th Season Delayed for Californians Safety

America's Got Talent

On January 12th, 2025, America’s Got Talent postponed their auditions due to wildfires in the area. The auditions were supposed to take place in Pasadena, California, but the people in charge of the show thankfully put the safety of the judges and contestants first. They still plan to reschedule and announce the new audition date soon, as stated on the America’s Got Talent Instagram account. A date has likely already been set, depending on the location since the fires are coming from the Southern side of California.

America’s Got Talent

Popular reality TV show, America’s Got Talent has presented an open stage for people with all kinds of talents since 2006. The judges are typically talent-seeking managers, producers, or celebrities who will decide whether the contestant can move on to the next round. Along with this, the judges can also choose whether the contestants are eliminated by pressing their red buzzers, or whether they can skip a round and move ahead. This is earned with the golden buzzer, which each judge is allowed to use once per season.

The show host guides the cameras so that the audience can learn the backstory of each contestant, and the lucky winner of each season wins a million-dollar prize. There’s a whole lot more that goes on in America’s Got Talent and there are other international franchises just like it. The network that broadcasts America’s Got Talent is NBC, but you can also find dozens of good clips or full videos of the show on YouTube. America’s Got Talent has been going on for nineteen seasons and was about to start the twentieth season this year.

20th Season Delayed

The host and production crew’s worry for the safety of everyone grew as the Palisades Fire continued to grow. Lines for waiting contestants tend to be very long and it’s better not to take any chances. The in-person auditions for the twentieth season of this show were later postponed, and the notice for delay was posted on Instagram. Many had already expected that most popular TV shows or networks anywhere in California would have to postpone any recordings or live broadcasts due to the fire.

Notifications were still needed to quell any rumors or misinformation just in case. If it weren’t for the posts about the delay, some would have speculated that the show was canceled or unapproved for renewal. As popular as America’s Got Talent is, some fans still fear this happening, considering how long the series has been running. There isn’t much information for when America’s Got Talent will return but there will be a date soon. Right now, the venue is being used as an emergency evacuation center for the Red Cross after the Eaton fire.

LA Fire Safety

The company, FilmLA alerted about the LA Fires on Wednesday, Jan 8th, to have all film productions to be put on hold. America’s Got Talent was forced to postpone the start of its twentieth season along with other popular productions such as Grey’s Anatomy. Most productions will likely have to stay on hold while the fires draw closer to the entertainment industries.

Based on recent reports, the fires have burned through several communities, including the ones in Pasadena and the Hollywood Hills. While the studios and sound stages aren’t at risk of being burned, the air quality is still toxic, filled with smoke from the fire. Even the famous Hollywood sign is in danger. Due to all this, the thousands of residents that have been forced to flee their homes, and several death occurrences, FilmLA has labeled this a State of Emergency.

May the Flames Burnout

For those who have loved ones in Los Angeles or anywhere in California, donations of all kinds are being given to all the victims and residents who have lost their homes. There are several foundations that you can also donate to help the victims. Neighborhoods in the path of the fire have been put out, and the places in California that are safe from the wildfires are Sacramento and San Francisco. It’s not much but with the right mindset, it can mean a lot soon.
