Season 23 of American Idol has concluded. The pool of contestants had a ridiculous amount of talent that some people claimed was the most talented collection of young singers ever. After a close competition full of memorable performances, America ultimately selected Jamal Roberts as the next American Idol.
American Idol Finale
As usual, the finale involved several of the eliminated finalists returning to the stage, along with special guest stars. Some of this year’s guest stars included Salt-N-Pepa, Good Charlotte, and 2022 American Idol winner Noah Thompson. The top three contestants – Jamal Roberts, John Foster, and Brianna Nix – had to sing their hearts out in a race to claim the top prize.

Jamal Roberts is a P.E. teacher from Meridian, Mississippi. He has three daughters: Harmoni, Lyrik, and newly born Gianna. The 2025 season was the third time that he auditioned for Idol, and as they say, the third time’s the charm. During the finale, he belted out a lovely rendition of “First Time” that was full of heart. Later, he performed “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)” as a tribute to his hometown of Meridian. His voice gave the song a soulful, wholesome feel.
The Winner Is Announced
After Jamal was announced as the winner, he stood on the stage for several moments with his face buried in his hands, overcome with emotion. Once he got it together, he treated the audience to his original song “Heal,” which is a prayer for healing from both physical and mental difficulties. His voice seemed to reach out to the audience, telling them that everything will be okay and they too can heal.
Conclusion
The 2025 season of American Idol was full of talent. Any of the finalists would have deserved to win. Was Jamal the most talented singer in the bunch? That is a difficult question since there were so many other stellar contestants and amazing performances. However, it cannot be argued that Jamal is immensely talented and he has the ability to move people with his voice. His career is sure to go very far after this unforgettable Idol victory.
