The American Cinematheque Award 2026 ceremony is off. Organizers said Friday, Oct. 2, that the gala is postponed to 2027 after honoree Ryan Gosling became unavailable because of a scheduling conflict, MyNewsLA reported.

American Cinematheque Award 2026: What Changed
The American Cinematheque announced Gosling in June as the recipient of its 40th annual award. The gala had been set for Nov. 2 at The Beverly Hilton, UPI reported. MyNewsLA said the group will announce a new date and a new honoree later. The organization did not explain what changed in Gosling’s schedule.
Why Gosling Was Chosen
The American Cinematheque praised Gosling’s work in “Half Nelson,” “Drive,” “La La Land,” “Barbie” and “Project Hail Mary,” Netflix Junkie reported. Board Chair Rick Nicita said the group recognized Gosling with “tremendous pride.” Read how “Project Hail Mary” entered an exclusive box-office list.
About the Gala
The annual event raises money for the nonprofit American Cinematheque, which oversees programming at three Southern California theaters, UPI reported. Recent honorees include Michael B. Jordan, Jessica Chastain, Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds.
