Game of Thrones Season 3
Young Renly Baratheon has just been assassinated, thus testing allegiances. The weather is getting colder, with autumn advancing – and while the kingdom should be preparing for winter, they’re actually preparing for civil war. Main protagonist Jon Snow is also investigating plans of what could be happening Beyond-the-Wall.
Game of Thrones Season 7
The next to the last Game of Thrones season, season seven, ranked high. Although the season was much shorter than the other ones, it was riveted with action packed sequences. Here we find Daenerys preparing for war. Jon joins her and they secure a plan together.
GoT Season 6
Season six can get a little confusing at times, but all in all, the plot moves forward with Daenerys finally ending up where she needs to be. Also, at the start of season six, we see Jon Snow resurrected. While he has a bit of an existential crisis throughout the beginning of the season, we see his character grow and retake Winterfell.
GoT Season 4
The House of Lannister is the primary focus of the season. Both Shae and Tywin met their ends. We see a heartbroken Cersei searching madly for who killed Joffrey, and we also note Sansa has gained more independence. Intertwined stories show much character building in this season.
GoT Season 1
The first season is the one that sets it all in motion. Game of Thrones starts with introducing the Starks. Ned Stark (played by Sean Bean) will ultimately lose his life, which gets some storylines off the ground. This also is where Jon Snow joins Night’s Watch, an organized group of guards.
GoT Season 2
Game of Thrones season two starts off with the aftermath of Ned Stark’s beheading. Stark, Lannister, and Greyjoy Houses are all in play. The season explores more character development than the first one. There are some chaotic scenes, the Battle of Blackwater is amazing, but Qarth is not.
GoT Season 5
The main focus of season five shows Jon Snow forming an alliance with the Wildlings. There is the violent sexual assault of Sansa and Cersei’s shaming. Arya kills Meryn in grand fashion. One of the best parts of the season hands down was Daenerys and her dragons – where she rides off on one of her dragons after battling Sons of the Harpy. Here be dragons!
GoT Season 8
Sadly, after all the buildup up and character development over the past seven seasons, the last Game of Thrones season felt hasty. Season eight didn’t do justice to the long complex storylines and characters created in the previous Game of Thrones seasons. We did see Sansa and Jon have a satisfying denouement, but other plots were rushed.

After reviewing Game of Thrones Seasons, it’s apparent that GoT was a well thought out, beautifully crafted series. It’s still considered one of the top rated series of all time.
