The movie Rust was directed by Joel Souza and starred Alec Baldwin, Travis Flimmel, Brady Noon, Francis Fisher, Jensen Ackles, and Devon Workheiser. The film takes place in the 1880s and follows a 13-year-old boy in Wyoming who, after being left to fend for himself and his younger brother following the death of their parents, finds himself on the run with his long-estranged grandfather after he was sent to hang for the accidental killing of a local rancher.” The movie was shot on an 8 million dollar budget and will be distributed by the Avenue Entertainment Company. Filming began in New Mexico on October 6th, 2021, and the accident only happened a few weeks later, on October 21st.

Many people all over the world speculate how this film can’t succeed after such a traumatic event; however, the filmmakers aren’t attempting to be successful as much as they are looking for the movement of the tragic accident to be successful as well as Halyna Hutchins’ vision to be preserved for the world to see. The filmmakers of Rust want to share with the industry the importance of safety onset as well as how they continued to shoot after the death of Hutchins. Maintaining Hutchins’ artistic vision, as tremendously challenging as it was for the entire crew, was important to the filmmakers, hoping to fulfill their duty to complete her work.”
