Actor Timothy West passed away on the 12th of November 2024. He recently had his 90th birthday. The British actor had over 150 projects to his name and was primarily known for playing characters like doctors, kings, emperors, and sergeants – and for performing voice work. He was also known for his role of King Edward the Seventh in King Edward, a British television miniseries, Captain deWet in the Denzel Washington-led movie Cry Freedom, and King Francis in Ever After: A Cinderella Story.
A Brief Look Timothy West’s Life
A talented actor who was easily capable of performing both lead roles and ensemble characters, Timothy West often portrayed those in positions of authority. He played Stan on EastEnders. Before he broke into acting, he worked in furniture sales and was a sound engineer with EMI.
Timothy West had been married twice, including over six decades to his second wife, Prunella Scales, an English actress. West was awarded the CBE, also known as as the Commander of the Order of the British Empire, in recognition for his acting. He was additionally president of prestigious acting school London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
A few years prior to his death, Timothy West portrayed Jeremy Lister in British TV series Gentleman Jack. His on-screen presence was also well matched by his Shakespearean training. The boating enthusiast leaves behind three children.
Timothy West’s Passing in 2024
Several months prior to his death, Timothy had taken a fall walking around his garden. This was in August of 2024. He was eventually moved to a nursing facility in Wandsworth, England several months later. Then Timothy was put on palliative care for a week prior to his death.
A home nursing worker had found him deceased on November 12th. He leaves behind Prunella Scales West and three children, Juliet, Samuel, and Joseph. An inquiry into his death had been started shortly after his passing.
Timothy West’s Cause of Death Confirmed
Because Timothy West died at a nursing facility and was a well-known actor, the family wanted to perform an inquest into his death as a precautionary measure. Reports confirmed that Mr. West died peacefully, most likely in his sleep, at Wandsworth-Avery nursing home. His wife, Prunella, who sadly has dementia, and his three children survive him.
